Texas-born singer-songwriter Calla is preparing to enter a bold new chapter with her upcoming single, ‘Halfway’, arriving on September 18, 2026.
The track serves as the lead single from her forthcoming EP, Between 10PM & 4, and sees the rising pop artist transform vulnerability, heartbreak and self-reflection into a statement of confidence and self-worth.

Calla Tells Her Side of the Story on ‘Halfway’
At its core, ‘Halfway’ is about demanding clarity when a relationship exists somewhere between casual dating and genuine commitment.
The song was inspired by a particularly personal experience after an ex-partner released music about the effort he had put into their relationship. With ‘Halfway’, Calla takes the opportunity to reclaim her own perspective and tell the other side of the story.
“I’m writing my version of the story,” Calla says.

The single sets the emotional tone for Between 10PM & 4, a project shaped by themes of relationships, independence, personal growth and learning to recognise one’s own worth.
Calla’s latest release continues a growing trend among emerging pop artists using deeply personal experiences as the foundation for their songwriting, something also explored in Verge Magazine’s coverage of Anie Delgado’s emotionally charged single ‘Without You’ and RAEGAN’s empowerment anthem ‘Crying Is A Girl’s Best Friend’.

From Texas to Nashville: The Story Behind Calla
Raised in Richmond, Texas, just outside Houston, Calla grew up surrounded by an eclectic mix of music.
Her family home was filled with sounds ranging from Beastie Boys, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden to country, gospel and EDM. Her musical journey began early, with Calla taking voice lessons at around six years old before earning her first solo performance in first grade.
Dance also played an important role in shaping her as a performer.
Throughout high school, Calla balanced music with competitive cheerleading and Hip-Hop dance competitions, eventually earning bronze, silver and gold medals at The Dance Worlds during her final three years.
By her senior year, she had decided to fully pursue music and joined artist development programme AMP U, where she developed her songwriting, vocals, piano skills and live performance abilities.
At 18, Calla moved to Nashville to focus on building her career. Although the pandemic temporarily brought her back to Texas, she used the period to continue writing extensively before eventually returning to Music City.

From The Voice to a New Musical Chapter
Calla’s journey has already taken her through several major milestones in the music industry.
Her previous single ‘Solo’ received airplay on SiriusXM, while ‘Self-Sabotage’ was later expanded into a remix EP. She also reached a national audience after appearing on Season 24 of The Voice as part of Gwen Stefani’s team.
Beyond performing, Calla has continued developing her skills as a songwriter. She later signed a publishing deal with Made In Memphis Entertainment and took part in a K-Pop writing camp for global entertainment company HYBE.
Now, with Between 10PM & 4, those experiences are beginning to come together in a project that reflects both her personal and artistic evolution.

What to Expect From Between 10PM & 4
Written largely by Calla, either independently or alongside collaborator Elizabeth Evans, Between 10PM & 4 brings together the singer-songwriter’s pop and R&B influences with the energy and movement that helped define her early years as a performer.
The EP explores everything from relationships and independence to faith and self-discovery.
One track, ‘Breathe’, is a song Calla has held onto since she was 18 and reflects the freedom of moving on from a relationship. Elsewhere, ‘Slippin’’ embraces Y2K-inspired dance energy, reconnecting the singer with her background as a world-champion Hip-Hop dancer.
That combination of emotionally open songwriting and dance-driven pop energy could make Between 10PM & 4 an exciting next step for the Texas-born artist.
Fans of emotionally driven pop releases can also check out Verge Magazine’s coverage of Cherry Bomb’s ‘Myriad Reflector’ and Leah Nawy’s debut EP I Could Bloom From Here.

Vulnerability, Confidence and Faith
Faith remains an important part of Calla’s life and creative identity, influencing both her perspective and her songwriting.
The singer says she hopes her music can offer listeners something relatable while maintaining the confident personality that has become an important part of her artistic voice.
“I’m creating music that’s relatable and that I hope people can find comfort in,” Calla says. “But I still have this sassiness to me.”
With ‘Halfway’, Calla is introducing listeners to an artist unafraid to embrace both sides of herself: vulnerable yet confident, reflective yet outspoken.
As she prepares to release Between 10PM & 4, the new single represents an opportunity for Calla to reclaim her narrative and establish exactly who she wants to be as an artist.
‘Halfway’ by Calla is set for release on September 18, 2026.
