Honey Butter Croissant and Brown Butter & Miso Caramel bring a sweet-meets-savoury twist to summer scoops.
Summer desserts are getting a seriously indulgent upgrade as Cheshire-based ice cream makers Snugburys unveils two new limited-edition flavours: Honey Butter Croissant and Brown Butter & Miso Caramel.
With sweet-and-savoury combinations continuing to make waves across the food world, the latest creations put a chef-led spin on classic flavours. Only 200 tubs of each flavour are being produced, making them a must-try for adventurous dessert fans.
The launch follows a growing appetite for unconventional ice cream combinations, with everything from savoury ingredients to nostalgic British flavours finding their way into the freezer.
In fact, unusual ice cream pairings have already been making headlines this summer, from Yorkshire puddings being used as edible ice cream bowls to inventive ice cream sandwiches. Read more about the latest summer ice cream trends on Verge Magazine.
Honey Butter Croissant Ice Cream
For fans of flaky pastries and buttery bakes, Honey Butter Croissant brings the flavour of a freshly baked croissant into Snugburys’ signature creamy ice cream.
The indulgent recipe combines smooth ice cream with toasted, caramelised pastry pieces, creating a mix of crisp, buttery textures and rich sweetness.
It’s essentially breakfast pastry meets summer dessert – and could be the perfect scoop for anyone who loves their ice cream with a little extra crunch.
Brown Butter & Miso Caramel
Meanwhile, Brown Butter & Miso Caramel takes the sweet-meets-savoury trend in a more adventurous direction.
Nutty, malty brown butter is paired with savoury miso and caramel, creating an umami-rich flavour designed to balance sweetness with a subtle salty depth.
The combination taps into the growing popularity of so-called “swalty” flavours, where sweet and salty ingredients are brought together to create more complex flavour profiles.
Savoury ingredients in desserts are becoming increasingly popular, with recent ice cream experiments including everything from potato and bacon to miso and olive oil.
Developed by Snugburys’ Le Cordon Bleu-Trained Chef
The new flavours were developed in-house by Cleo, Snugburys’ Head of Production, who trained at both Le Cordon Bleu and Ballymaloe Cookery School.
Her role is at the heart of Snugburys’ more experimental seasonal creations, with the brand focusing on transforming familiar ingredients into unexpected ice cream combinations.
“We’re always asking ourselves what flavour we can create next that will surprise people,” says Cleo, Head of Production at Snugburys. “We wanted these ice creams to feel familiar but unexpected, taking ingredients people already love and giving them a completely new twist. We can’t wait to see which one becomes everyone’s summer favourite.”
