Summertime Wines From Idris Elba’s Porte Noire

Porte Noire Wines, proudly co-founded by Idris Elba, is proud to present its 2021 vintage Côtes de Provence Rosé. The brand new vintage will sit alongside the house’s existing range which includes the 2019 vintage rosé and two champagnes: The ‘Petite Porte’ and the vintage Grand Cru.

All of Porte Noire’s range of rosé and champagnes have been commended by the Decanter Awards with the ‘juicy and fresh’ palate of the rosé achieving high praise.

Idris Elba’s involvement in the wine came after a chance meeting with David Farber following a trip to the Champagne region of France. David is a French oenophile with a long and demonstrated history working in the wine industry. The two built a perfect partnership combining David’s knowledge of wine and Idris’s eye for spotting the next big thing. The champagne was initially launched in 2020 and has now been followed by the original rosé, a 2019 vintage. The 2021 vintage is the latest wine to join the curated collection and only builds on the creaminess and structure of the earlier vintage.

The growing Porte Noire Wines collection now boasts a selection that is perfect for summer drinking: think long, lazy days in the sun with barbecue-grilled fish and a crisp glass of chilled rosé. For special occasions, the champagnes’ complex and elegant flavours pair perfectly with fresh strawberries and cream.

Speaking about the wines, Idris Elba commented: “Launching Porte Noire Wines has been an incredible experience and we have received some incredible reviews. It’s brilliant to be adding the 2021 rosé to our collection.”

David Farber added, “Opening the bar last year to such fantastic success has been greater than we ever could have anticipated. We are so proud of our range of wines and are excited to get bottles into even more wine fridges this summer!”

The wines are available to purchase directly from Porte Noire’s website: https://www.portenoire.co.uk/online-shop/, as well as other major wine retailers, including Harvey Nicholls. The wines are also available to drink alongside dinner at a number of London restaurants such as Stork and Boisdale and Maison Estelle, Aubaine.

Last October, Idris and David launched Porte Noire King’s Cross, a wine bar overlooking Regent’s Canal which brings their concept to life. The range of Porte Noire wines can be sipped while sitting on the bar’s sunny terrace with views of Coal Drops Yard setting the scene.

The Porte Noire Bar and Shop is now open. For more information: www.portenoire.co.uk.
