SCREAM’S LEGENDARY ORIGINAL SCORE RETURNS FOR A BLOODY 30TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE REISSUE!

Horror fans and soundtrack collectors have another reason to celebrate this summer, as Marco Beltrami’s unforgettable score for Scream is receiving a major 30th anniversary reissue.

Launching 28 August 2026, Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings are bringing back the iconic soundtrack in several collectible vinyl editions alongside a brand-new 40-track Extended Cut CD, giving fans the most complete version of the score ever released.

Whether you’re a lifelong Scream fan or a vinyl collector looking for the next centrepiece in your horror collection, this anniversary release celebrates one of cinema’s most influential horror scores.

A Horror Classic Gets the Deluxe Treatment

Originally released alongside Wes Craven’s groundbreaking 1996 slasher masterpiece, Marco Beltrami’s score helped define the atmosphere of Scream, blending haunting orchestral melodies with nerve-shredding suspense.

The anniversary collection brings back the original 14-track soundtrack on vinyl, housed inside a collectible “blood-soaked” sleeve featuring Drew Barrymore’s unforgettable opening scene as Casey Becker.

Collectors can also choose from several retailer-exclusive coloured vinyl variants, including:

  • “Woodsboro Bloodbath” Red Vinyl
  • “Knife’s Edge” Silver Vinyl
  • “Surprise, Sidney” Metallic Blend
  • “Don’t Hang Up” Clear Vinyl
  • “I’ll Be Right Back” Blue Vinyl
  • “Final Girl” Splatter Vinyl
  • “Wrong Answer” Blood Red Splatter
  • “Final Phone Call” Blue Vinyl

The Complete 40-Cue Score Finally Arrives on CD

Alongside the vinyl release comes an expanded Extended Cut Edition on CD.

Featuring all 40 original cues, the release includes music previously available only in the 2022 box set, allowing fans to experience Beltrami’s score exactly as heard throughout the film.

Highlights include:

  • The Cue from Hell
  • Sidney’s Lament
  • Trouble in Woodsboro
  • They’re Crazy
  • End Credits

The expanded edition also includes bonus cues and an orchestral-only version of the famous opening sequence.

The Score That Changed Horror Forever

When Scream arrived in cinemas in 1996, it reinvented the slasher genre.

Directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, the film mixed satire, self-awareness and genuine scares, introducing audiences to Ghostface and launching one of horror’s biggest franchises.

Starring:

  • Neve Campbell
  • Courteney Cox
  • David Arquette
  • Drew Barrymore
  • Matthew Lillard
  • Skeet Ulrich
  • Jamie Kennedy
  • Rose McGowan

Scream became one of the highest-grossing horror films of its era and remains one of the genre’s defining movies.

Beltrami’s music played a huge role in creating that tension.

Interestingly, the composer had never even scored a horror film before landing the project. After submitting music for the opening sequence, director Wes Craven immediately recognised he’d found the perfect collaborator, beginning a creative partnership that would continue across multiple films.

A Career-Defining Score

Working with a modest budget, Marco Beltrami relied on smaller ensembles rather than a full orchestra, creating an intimate yet deeply unsettling sound.

Tracks such as The Cue from Hell perfectly mirror Casey Becker’s terrifying final moments, while Sidney’s Lament captures the grief and trauma experienced by Sidney Prescott.

The score would go on to launch Beltrami’s career, leading to acclaimed work on:

  • The Hurt Locker
  • 3:10 to Yuma
  • A Quiet Place
  • Free Solo

Today, he remains one of Hollywood’s most respected film composers.
