The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have officially unveiled the next generation of LEGO Pokémon sets, introducing an innovative new play experience powered by LEGO SMART Play technology.
Launching on 1 August 2026, the new collection combines classic LEGO building with interactive technology, allowing children to train, nurture and battle their favourite Pokémon characters in entirely new ways.
For Pokémon fans, this marks one of the biggest toy launches of the year, bringing beloved creatures such as Pikachu, Charizard, Bulbasaur, Eevee, Mew, Mewtwo and Gengar into an immersive play ecosystem that responds to real-world interactions.
What Is LEGO SMART Play?
At the heart of the new range is the innovative SMART Play system, powered by the LEGO SMART Brick.
Unlike traditional electronic toys, the technology enables LEGO creations to react through light, sound, motion and sensing without requiring screens. Children can interact directly with their Pokémon models, creating more dynamic storytelling opportunities and encouraging imaginative play.
According to the LEGO Group, the SMART Brick contains more than twenty patented technological innovations designed to make physical play more interactive.

LEGO and Pokémon Join Forces
The collaboration brings together two of the world’s most recognisable entertainment brands.
Speaking about the launch, Julia Goldin said the new range allows fans to build, train and interact with Pokémon through hands-on play that promotes creativity, confidence and storytelling.
Meanwhile, Gaku Susai highlighted how the partnership captures Pokémon’s long-standing themes of discovery, imagination and connection while introducing new interactive possibilities for younger fans.

Twelve New LEGO Pokémon Sets Announced
The launch lineup consists of twelve sets split across two categories:
- SMART Play All-in-One Sets
- SMART Play Compatible Expansion Sets
The All-in-One products include SMART Bricks, SMART Tags and charging accessories, while compatible sets expand the experience with additional Pokémon, environments and gameplay scenarios.
Training House with Pikachu (72164)
Designed for ages 6+, this starter set features a Pikachu-inspired treehouse, training equipment, a Poké Ball and a buildable sandwich.
Children can nurture, train and interact with Pikachu while learning the basics of the SMART Play system.
Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (72167)
Ages 8+ can recreate epic Pokémon battles featuring Charizard and Jolteon.
The set includes healing items, training grounds and two SMART Bricks that enable enhanced interactions between the Pokémon.
