NORTHERN PASTA CO. HEADS INTO THE DRAGONS’ DEN WITH BRITISH SPELT PASTA!

Lancashire-based pasta brand Northern Pasta Co. is heading into the Dragons’ Den, hoping to secure investment for a new production facility and bring more jobs to the North of England.

Pasta is heading into the fire tonight as Northern Pasta Co. prepares to enter the famous BBC Dragons’ Den, with co-founders Imogen Royall and Matt Kenyon hoping the Dragons will have an appetite for their British-grown spelt pasta.

The Lancashire-based brand, which has built its identity around British farming, heritage grains and regenerative agriculture, will appear on BBC One at 8pm on Thursday 17th September 2026.

For the husband-and-wife founders, the appearance represents a major moment in Northern Pasta Co.’s journey as they look to take the business into its next stage of growth.

Northern Pasta Co. Takes British Spelt to the Den

Founded by Imogen Royall and Matt Kenyon, Northern Pasta Co. is on a mission to rethink how pasta is made, using regeneratively grown British spelt rather than relying on conventional imported wheat.

The brand produces its pasta at its headquarters in Lancashire, combining British-grown heritage grain with traditional pasta-making techniques.

Its pasta is made using slow bronze extrusion, a traditional process designed to create a textured surface that allows sauces to cling to the pasta.

That combination of British farming, traditional production and a focus on flavour forms the heart of Northern Pasta Co.’s pitch as the pair step into the Dragons’ Den.

What Does Northern Pasta Co. Want From the Dragons?

While the Dragons will have to decide whether they want a slice of the business, Northern Pasta Co. is looking beyond simply securing investment.

The company hopes funding will help it develop a new production facility, allowing the brand to expand its operations while creating new employment opportunities in the North of England.

For a business built around British agriculture, keeping production and job creation in the region is an important part of its growth plans.

The Dragons’ Den appearance could therefore prove to be a significant opportunity for the Lancashire business as it looks to scale up without losing sight of the values that helped establish the brand.

A Pasta Brand Built Around Regenerative Farming

Northern Pasta Co. describes itself as a British heritage-grain pasta brand focused on producing pasta while considering the health of the soil, the environment and personal wellbeing.

Its use of regeneratively grown British spelt places farming at the centre of the brand.

Rather than treating pasta simply as a finished food product, Northern Pasta Co. has built its identity around the journey from British farmland to the dinner table.

The company says its approach is rooted in British farming, craft and flavour, while its Lancashire production base allows it to make its pasta locally.

“One of the Biggest Moments of Our Brand Journey”

Ahead of the episode, co-founder Imogen Royall shared her excitement at finally seeing the Northern Pasta Co. journey unfold on screen.

“It’s such an exciting feeling knowing that those who tune in are about to see one of the biggest moments of our brand journey. We’ve been counting down the days, and we’re just so grateful for the experience. We can’t wait for our community to discover which of the Dragons love our pasta as much as they do.”

Now, the big question is whether one of the Dragons will be tempted to invest in the business and help Northern Pasta Co. turn its ambitions for a new production facility into reality.
