Where to go now: The Ivy Asia Chelsea, Theatre, Flavour and Luxury on King’s Road

Set in the heart of Chelsea on the iconic King’s Road, The Ivy Asia Chelsea is one of the most visually striking restaurants in London. Part of the wider Ivy Collection, The Ivy Asia concept first launched as a modern pan-Asian dining experience before expanding across the UK, with the Chelsea venue opening in 2021 as the brand’s second London location. The restaurant combines theatrical interiors, vibrant Asian-inspired dishes and polished hospitality, creating a dining experience that feels every bit as glamorous as its famous postcode.

From the moment we stepped inside, the décor immediately stole the show. The glowing green onyx-style flooring, dramatic lighting, cherry blossom details and luxurious furnishings make the restaurant feel immersive and extravagant without losing its warmth. The Ivy Asia brand has become known for its opulent interiors and Chelsea perfectly captures that signature aesthetic.

We started with a selection of small plates including the Popcorn Shrimp, Gochujang Chicken, Satay Chicken Yakatori and the Ebi Prawn Tempura Nahm Jim. Each dish arrived beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The Popcorn Shrimp was crisp, light and incredibly moreish, while the Gochujang Chicken delivered the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. The Satay Chicken Yakatori was tender with a rich smoky glaze, and the Ebi Prawn Tempura Nahm Jim brought freshness and crunch with a subtle kick of spice.

For mains, we chose the Black Cod Miso and the Char Siu Pork Belly — both standout dishes. The Black Cod was buttery soft and melted effortlessly, coated in a rich umami miso glaze, while the Char Siu Pork Belly was beautifully caramelised with deep, savoury flavour and perfectly cooked meat.

Dessert was the Cherry Blossom Sumo, which felt fitting given the restaurant’s dramatic presentation style. It was visually stunning and indulgent, ending the meal on a high note.

What truly tied the evening together was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable throughout, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. Combined with the beautiful surroundings and memorable food, The Ivy Asia Chelsea offers much more than dinner — it delivers a full dining experience that feels special from beginning to end.
