LEGO GROUP AND YOUNG BAFTA LAUNCH YEAR-LONG PARTNERSHIP TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF STORYTELLERS

The LEGO Group has announced a new year-long partnership with BAFTA’s Young BAFTA programme, bringing together two major creative organisations with a shared mission: empowering young people through storytelling, play and innovation.

The collaboration aims to support children and young people across the UK by providing creative opportunities, workshops and mentorship programmes designed to nurture future talent in the screen industries.

What Is Young BAFTA?

Part of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), Young BAFTA is a year-round talent initiative that helps young people access careers in film, television, games and digital media.

The programme is known for its nationwide school roadshows, creative workshops and competitions including Young Game Designers and Young Presenters. Through these initiatives, Young BAFTA encourages self-expression, creativity and confidence while helping young people develop valuable transferable skills.

According to BAFTA, the programme also plays a major role in supporting mental wellbeing through creative engagement and artistic opportunities.

LEGO and BAFTA Unite Through Creativity

As an official Young BAFTA partner, the LEGO Group says it will continue its wider mission of encouraging children to learn through play while giving them new ways to tell stories and express themselves creatively.

The partnership launches alongside the LEGO Insiders Club and Aardman collaboration “Boop” — a short film inspired by children’s creations made using the LEGO Play app’s stop-motion studio tool.

“Boop” explores themes of friendship, identity and imagination, values that both organisations say are central to the new collaboration.

Workshops, Mentorships and Industry Access

The LEGO Group and Young BAFTA plan to deliver a range of creative experiences for young people throughout the partnership, including:

  • Hands-on creative workshops
  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Storytelling sessions
  • Access to industry professionals and insights
  • Activities designed to build confidence and creative skills

Anna Rafferty, SVP of Digital Consumer Engagement at the LEGO Group, described the partnership as “an exciting opportunity to spark the next generation of young storytellers.”

Meanwhile, Katie Campbell, Head of Talent Programmes at BAFTA, said the collaboration would help ensure young people feel “equipped and encouraged to express their own creativity.”

Supporting Diverse Talent Across the UK

A key focus of the initiative is increasing access to creative opportunities for children from all backgrounds.

By integrating LEGO-led creativity into community-driven projects, the partnership aims to help uplift diverse young talent across the UK while inspiring future filmmakers, animators, presenters and game designers.

The announcement also forms part of the LEGO Group’s broader social impact strategy, which focuses on making play more accessible to children worldwide and helping young people develop life skills through creativity.
