Tortilla, the UK’s most loved Mexican restaurant brand, is continuing its nationwide expansion with the opening of a brand-new high-street restaurant in Leeds, marking a major step in the brand’s growth outside of food halls and shopping centres.
The new Tortilla site, located at 33 Bond Street, is set to officially open on Friday 23 January, just moments away from its current unit inside Trinity Kitchen at Trinity Leeds. Ahead of the move, the existing Trinity Kitchen location will close on Monday 19 January at 3pm, making way for the larger, standalone restaurant.
A Bigger Space for California-Style Burritos
Known for its California-style burritos, tacos and bowls, Tortilla has built a loyal following by serving freshly made meals prepared from scratch using high-quality ingredients. The Bond Street restaurant offers significantly more space for diners and introduces a refreshed, modern interior designed to create a relaxed and welcoming environment for customers.
Inspired by San Francisco taquerias, Tortilla restaurants are designed as social spaces, serving burritos and tacos alongside beers and margaritas, making them ideal for casual lunches, after-work meals and group dining.
Free Burritos at Exclusive Leeds Sneak Preview
To celebrate the opening, Tortilla is inviting customers to an exclusive sneak preview event on Thursday 22 January, with free food on offer.
Between 12pm and 1:30pm, customers can claim one free medium burrito, bowl or salad. The offer is available to existing members of the Burrito Society, as well as new sign-ups via the official Tortilla Leeds Bond Street sign-up page. Participants will receive a QR code by email, which must be presented on the day to redeem the offer.
As expected, the giveaway is available on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last, and all offers are subject to change.
In addition to free food, customers attending the preview can enjoy a live guacamole bar, while Burrito Society members will also receive a 2-for-1 offer to use during the restaurant’s first week of opening.
“We Can’t Wait to Welcome Everyone In”
Commenting on the new opening, Olivia Paris, Interim Marketing Director at Tortilla, said:
“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our new high-street Tortilla in Leeds. Moving into a bigger space on Bond Street allows us to offer an even better experience for our customers, with a fresh, modern look alongside the same freshly made, California-style burritos and tacos Leeds already knows and loves. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in.”
Fresh, Fast and Fully Customisable
Tortilla’s menu is built around choice, flavour and quality, with every dish made to order and typically served in under 90 seconds. With more than 4 million possible burrito combinations, customisation is central to the brand’s appeal, and over 70% of the menu’s fillings are plant-based.
Ingredients are selected for both flavour and provenance, including Hass avocados hand-smashed for guacamole, chillies imported directly from Mexico, and grass-fed British Isles brisket used for its barbacoa.
The brand also places a strong emphasis on sustainability, sending zero waste to landfill and using 100% renewable electricity across its restaurants.
Tortilla’s Continued UK Growth
Founded in 2007, Tortilla has grown into the UK’s largest fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand, now operating more than 85 locations nationwide. Alongside its UK estate, Tortilla also runs 10 international stores across Dubai and Saudi Arabia through an exclusive franchise partnership.
With more than 6.5 million mains served each year, Tortilla continues to expand while maintaining its focus on fresh preparation, authentic flavours and fast service.
