TIMBERLAND CELEBRATES THE AUTHENTIC BOAT SHOE IN SS26 CAMPAIGN SHOT ON THE NEAPOLITAN COAST

Timberland is spotlighting one of its most iconic silhouettes for Spring/Summer 2026, unveiling a new campaign dedicated to the Authentic Boat Shoe. Featuring the 3-Eye, 2-Eye and Stone Street styles, the campaign celebrates timeless craftsmanship while showing how the classic design continues to evolve with modern fashion.

Shot along the Neapolitan coast, the campaign blends heritage, craft and contemporary styling—demonstrating how a shoe introduced nearly five decades ago still resonates across generations.

A Craft-Focused Setting on the Italian Coast

The campaign was photographed by Paul Hempstead at Cantieri Aprea, a historic boatyard near Pompeii in Naples, Italy. Known for restoring heritage vessels, the boatyard provides an authentic setting that reflects the values behind the shoe itself: craftsmanship, durability and respect for tradition.

Weathered wooden docks, working boats and hand-built yachts create the backdrop for the collection. Some of the vessels seen in the campaign are historic restorations, while others are reproductions used in film productions. The result is a visual narrative rooted in real craftsmanship rather than staged environments.

The cast featured in the campaign spans different ages and backgrounds, united by a shared appreciation for quality design and handcrafted detail. Styled head-to-toe, each look blends heritage inspiration with contemporary fashion, positioning the boat shoe as a modern wardrobe staple rather than a nostalgic relic.

A Heritage Design That Dates Back to 1978

For Timberland, the boat shoe is more than a seasonal product—it’s a cornerstone of the brand’s identity.

The Authentic 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe was first introduced in 1978, combining a rugged lug outsole with a premium handsewn leather upper. The design allowed the shoe to transition seamlessly from the deck of a boat to everyday city wear.

Just a year later, Timberland launched the Classic 2-Eye Lug Boat Shoe, designed with a siped outsole to enhance traction on wet surfaces. Since then, the silhouette has seen various colourways and finishes, but its core construction has remained largely unchanged.

Key elements that define the shoe today include:

  • Solid brass eyelets

  • Rawhide laces

  • Nylon hand stitching

  • Premium leather uppers designed to age naturally

Rather than losing integrity over time, the leather develops character—making each pair unique as it’s worn.

The Boat Shoe Family for SS26

The SS26 lineup expands the classic design across several styles for both men and women, while maintaining the brand’s signature craftsmanship.

For men, the collection features:

  • Authentic 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe

  • Classic 2-Eye Boat Shoe

Both designs are constructed with Premium Timberland Leather uppers and handsewn detailing.

The women’s range includes:

  • Noreen 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe

  • Classic 2-Eye Boat Shoe

  • Stone Street Platform Boat Shoe

  • Noreen Mule Shoe

Some updated styles incorporate REBOTL fabric lining and OrthoLite® footbeds, delivering modern comfort while maintaining the timeless look.

Apparel Highlights from the Campaign

Alongside the footwear, Timberland also highlights several outerwear and apparel pieces in the campaign.

The Wenham Waterproof Barn Coat—available for both men and women—is designed as an all-purpose outer layer, combining classic style with weather-resistant functionality.

Other pieces include the Corduroy Collared Denim Jacket, crafted from 100% recycled cotton, and the Striped Long-Sleeve Rugby Polo, which features a relaxed boxy fit with a contrast collar.

Together, the clothing complements the boat shoe’s aesthetic—blending heritage workwear influences with modern everyday wear.

A Timeless Style Built to Last

The SS26 campaign positions the Authentic Boat Shoe as a piece that transcends trends. From dockside heritage to street-style fashion, the design continues to unite different generations and aesthetics around a shared appreciation for durability and craftsmanship.

As Timberland describes it: “Tide-proof and trend-resistant.”

Decades after its introduction, the Authentic Boat Shoe remains proof that great design doesn’t fade—it simply evolves.

The collection is available at Timberland retail stores, selected wholesale partners and online via the official Timberland website.
