Fans of the iconic sitcom The Big Bang Theory are getting a brand-new multiverse adventure this summer, as HBO Max officially confirms the launch of comedy spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
The upcoming ten-episode Max Original series premieres on Friday, July 24, with new episodes arriving weekly on Fridays across the UK and Ireland via HBO Max.
What Is Stuart Fails to Save the Universe About?
The new series puts fan-favourite comic book store owner Stuart Bloom at the centre of the chaos. Played once again by Kevin Sussman, Stuart accidentally triggers a multiverse-level disaster after breaking a device created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter.
According to the official synopsis, Stuart must attempt to restore reality before everything collapses entirely — though, judging by the title, success may not exactly be guaranteed.
Helping Stuart on his bizarre mission are his girlfriend Denise, portrayed by Lauren Lapkus, geologist Bert played by Brian Posehn, and chaotic quantum physicist Barry Kripke, once again played by John Ross Bowie.
The series will also feature alternate-universe versions of beloved characters from The Big Bang Theory, opening the door for unexpected cameos and reality-bending comedy moments.
A New Chapter in The Big Bang Theory Universe
Created by legendary sitcom producer Chuck Lorre alongside writer Zak Penn and original Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady, the show is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Chuck Lorre Productions.
The teaser trailer for the series debuted during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront Presentation in New York, giving fans their first look at the upcoming sci-fi comedy.
Why Fans Are Excited
Since ending in 2019, The Big Bang Theory has remained one of television’s most streamed sitcoms worldwide, spawning spin-offs including Young Sheldon. This latest expansion leans heavily into science-fiction parody and multiverse storytelling, blending sitcom humour with comic-book-inspired chaos.
With growing audience demand for nostalgic franchises and interconnected universes, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe could become HBO Max’s next major comedy hit.
