Samsung has officially entered the next era of wearable tech. At Google I/O 2026, Samsung and Google unveiled their brand-new intelligent eyewear, developed in collaboration with luxury eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
The AI-powered smart glasses are designed to work alongside a smartphone, allowing users to access navigation, translations, notifications and Gemini AI assistance completely hands-free.
Samsung and Google’s Vision for AI Wearables
The new intelligent eyewear combines Samsung’s hardware expertise with Google’s AI technology and Android ecosystem. Rather than replacing smartphones entirely, the glasses act as a connected companion device, offering seamless integration with the wider Galaxy ecosystem.
Users can interact with the glasses through voice commands powered by Gemini AI, enabling real-time assistance while staying focused on the world around them.
Samsung says the wearable is designed to keep users “hands-free and heads-up,” positioning the device as a practical everyday tool rather than just another tech gadget.
Two Distinct Smart Glasses Styles
The launch includes two premium eyewear collections with very different design philosophies.
Gentle Monster Smart Glasses
The Gentle Monster version embraces the company’s signature futuristic aesthetic, blending bold fashion-forward styling with integrated AI technology.
Known for pushing boundaries in designer eyewear, Gentle Monster’s collaboration focuses heavily on expressive and disruptive design.
Warby Parker Smart Glasses
Meanwhile, Warby Parker offers a more classic and understated approach. The collection focuses on timeless silhouettes, comfort and precision optics, aiming to make wearable AI feel natural for everyday users.
What Can the Samsung and Google AI Glasses Do?
The intelligent eyewear includes several AI-powered features designed to simplify everyday life.
Gemini Voice Assistance
Users can speak directly to Gemini AI for help while on the move. This includes:
- Navigation assistance
- Finding nearby locations such as cafés or shops
- Placing pickup orders
- Managing reminders and calendars
- Receiving summarised text notifications
Real-Time Translation Features
One of the standout features is live translation. The glasses can provide real-time translated audio that matches the speaker’s voice, while also translating text on menus, signs and other objects directly within the user’s field of vision.
Hands-Free Photography
The eyewear also integrates with Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, allowing users to capture photos and manage tasks without pulling out their phones.
Samsung and Google Push Further Into XR
The announcement marks another major step in the growing extended reality (XR) and wearable AI market.
Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office at Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, described the glasses as an “important step” in Samsung’s AI vision, expanding the Galaxy ecosystem into new form factors.
Google’s Vice President and GM of Android XR, Shahram Izadi, also highlighted the partnership’s goal of making AI more accessible and natural in everyday life.
Release Date and Availability
Samsung confirmed that the first intelligent eyewear collections from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are scheduled to launch in autumn 2026 in select markets.
Additional details, including pricing, supported regions and full specifications, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
