Creative Ways to Furnish That Spare Bedroom

If your home is like many others, you have that spare bedroom you often refer to as the guest room. However, you have overnight guests so infrequently that the only thing that room is used for is for storing junk and it is one more room to dust and vacuum on cleaning day. Isn’t there something else you can do with that space so that it doesn’t feel wasted? Actually, have you thought of perhaps making a multipurpose room out of it? That way, you can use it in between Christmas visits from the in-laws. Let’s get creative to see what we can do!

Begin by Getting Rid of That Bed

The very first item on your multi-purposing agenda is to get that bed out of there. Maybe one of the kids could use a new bed because this one has been slept on a maximum of a dozen nights, and that’s a generous guess at best! Once it’s out of there, look for a sofa bed from VidaXL, which will take up less room.

Furnishing a spare room can be a daunting task, but transforming it from mundane to magnificent doesn’t have to be difficult. A trundle bed with mattress is the perfect addition to that extra bedroom and frees up much-needed space without sacrificing comfort. This practical sleeping solution is ideal for guests or family members looking for a comfortable night’s rest with minimal fuss. The trundle bed allows ample storage underneath so that you don’t need to buy additional furniture.

These can function as a sofa most of the time but when guests arrive, it can be pulled out into a comfortable double bed. Comfort is a relative thing, but you can change that up by choosing a mattress that suits your in-laws’ preference. Since they are the only ones likely to use it, that extra firm sofa bed mattress you’ve been looking at will do just fine.

Add a Few Stackable Coffee Tables

These will come in handy when you want to gather in your newly revamped multipurpose room for movie night. Everyone can have their own coffee table to set their drinks and snacks on but when not in use, a set of nesting tables like this can stack nicely to be set back in the corner between the wall and the sofa bed. It’s a perfect plan so far, isn’t it?

Don’t Forget to Mount a Flatscreen Television

You will want to have positioned that sofa bed in such a way as to have the wall directly across from it large enough to accommodate a large, flatscreen television. You can always stream movies to it from the computer you’ve set up in the room. Did we forget to mention that? If it’s a multipurpose room you might want it to function as a study room so the kids aren’t distracted when they are doing their homework. It sure beats putting them at the kitchen table where all they do is snack!

You can get as creative as you want when it comes to revamping that spare bedroom into something that will at least see daily use! There’s no sense denying that you will get much more enjoyment from it now than when it’s being used as holiday guest quarters on those dreaded annual visits. Whether you want to put a surround sound system in there or let the kids bring their Xbox in to hook up, the choice is yours. It is, after all, a multipurpose room, so why can’t it be a game room too? It certainly can!
