Mayfield Lavender Farm Turns 20: Surrey’s Purple Paradise Returns for Summer 2026

Just 15 miles from central London, the fragrant purple rows of Mayfield Lavender Farm are set to bloom once again as the much-loved Surrey destination reopens for the 2026 season on Saturday, June 6th.

This year marks a major milestone for the family-run organic farm, which celebrates 20 years since first opening its gates to the public. To honour the anniversary, the team behind “London’s lavender farm” has unveiled a series of new experiences centred around renewal, regrowth and regeneration — themes that feel especially fitting for a destination rooted in nature, heritage and wellbeing.

Spread across 25 acres in Banstead, the farm has become one of the South East’s most photographed summer attractions, drawing visitors from across the UK and beyond for its sweeping lavender fields, peaceful atmosphere and unmistakable scent that lingers long after you leave.

For 2026, visitors can expect more than just picturesque rows of purple blooms. Among the season’s new attractions is The Lavender Labyrinth, designed as a calming, meditative space where guests can slow down and reconnect with nature. Families can also explore the new Bee & Butterfly Exploration Trail, while budding gardeners can learn how to propagate lavender at The Potting Station — an interactive addition included with admission.

The farm is also encouraging visitors to become part of its ongoing story through a new “Adopt-a-Plant” initiative, allowing guests to dedicate newly planted lavender as part of Mayfield’s long-term regeneration efforts.

Alongside returning favourites like the iconic red telephone box, heart-shaped bench and “Looby Loo” tractor train, the farm has introduced flexible ticketing for the new season. “Anyday Tickets” allow visitors to attend on a date of their choice, while Purple Passes offer five visits throughout the season for £25 — ideal for those hoping to experience the fields at different stages of bloom.

Food has also become a bigger part of the Mayfield experience this year, with a curated line-up of street food traders joining the farm throughout the summer, complementing the site’s popular lavender-infused treats, cream teas and café offerings.

Photography lovers will also welcome the return of the “Moments at Mayfield” competition, which this year includes categories for Best Dressed, Best Family Photo and even Best Pet — with dogs, cats, reptiles and horses all eligible to enter.

What continues to set Mayfield apart, however, is its connection to the region’s historic lavender-growing heritage. Founded in 2006 by Brendan Maye on land once home to Victorian lavender fields, the farm has played a major role in reviving a tradition that once defined parts of Surrey and South London. Today, it remains proudly certified organic by the Soil Association and continues to champion chemical-free farming and pollinator-friendly practices.

Owner Lorna Maye says the anniversary season is about more than celebration.

“What began as a mission to make lavender relevant again has grown into something far greater, bringing both the plant and the area’s historical lavender-growing heritage back to life.”

The lavender season runs from June 6th to August 23rd, although peak bloom is typically seen from July to early August, depending on weather conditions.

For Londoners seeking a summer escape without venturing too far from the city, Mayfield Lavender Farm continues to offer one of the capital region’s most enchanting seasonal experiences — where tranquillity, colour and countryside charm collide in spectacular fashion.
