UK rap star JAY1 continues his triumphant return with his latest single ‘ASAP’ ft. Neeshay. Listen HERE.
Following the release of his powerful track ‘Respectfully’ earlier this year, this time round JAY1 brings his brother Neeshay on board for a special guest appearance. Shot and recorded in 24 hours in Copenhagen, this single not only highlights JAY1’s dynamic artistry, but also showcases the undeniable chemistry and talent within his family.
Harnessed around a minimal backbeat, JAY1 doesn’t wait around and immediately takes to the mic with his slick, hard-hitting bars, free-flowing simultaneously with Neeshay throughout: “Feeling too comfy boy, I ain’t laid back / If you wanna beef me then say that… / I tell ‘em come Coventry ASAP.”
Speaking about the new track, JAY1 says: “ASAP’ was made in the studio back in 2021 with my older brother Neeshay. We wanted a simple but tough beat to jump back to back on, so I hit my brothers PAYDAY & Icey. I always wanted to do a track with my brother and this studio session we had was definitely an opportunity.”
The accompanying music video showcases the brothers’ chemistry to the full. Recorded with handheld video cameras and mixing between BTS visuals in the recording studio and close friends prepping for a night out, the video’s DIY aesthetic heightens the track’s personal feel, whilst also exuding plenty of attitude.
JAY1’s year is brimming with exciting opportunities, including a new collaboration with Google Pixel and captivating content ventures. Additionally, fans can look forward to extensive press features with The Edit LDN and an upcoming photo shoot for House of Solo.
