The new Fiat 500 Ibrida – set for release between late 2025 and early 2026 – will be produced at the Mirafiori Plant in Turin, Italy. The hybrid model will complement the much-appreciated Fiat 500e, which was also proudly developed, engineered, and designed at Mirafiori. The move highlights FIAT’s dedication to innovation and sustainability while reinforcing its deep connection to its Italian heritage and the strong strategic role of Mirafiori. The brand also introduces the new 500e MIRAFIORI, a special edition cabrio and electric vehicle exclusively dedicated to Italy.
“FIAT is proud to be a flag-bearer for Italy throughout the world. Italy serves as our foundation, our driving force and our future. And Mirafiori is one of our engines which represents Italy, its people, its values, its pride and the 500. But today, 90% of Mirafiori production goes abroad. To increase the number of 500s on the road in Italy and to answer the Italian customers, we have decided to produce the new 500 Ibrida. The new 500 Ibrida has an Italian name, will be developed and designed in Turin and proudly Made in Mirafiori. It is clear that Mirafiori plays a strategic role for the brand and that we are also continuing investing in Italy, the 500 and Mirafiori.”
Olivier Francois, FIAT Chief Executive Officer and Global Chief Marketing Officer of Stellantis
“Italy is our engine”
Turin is FIAT’s decision-making and design HQ for the entire world and where the brand is conquering the world market, one car at a time. Indeed, FIAT produces the 500e, the 500X, the Panda and the FIAT Professional Ducato in Italy. In 2023 FIAT manufactured one in every three cars sold globally in Italy. This figure is even higher within Italian territory, as an impressive 70% of the FIATs sold within the country were assembled in Italy.
With the Panda produced in Pomigliano and the 500 in Mirafiori, FIAT has two of its most iconic models being both made in Italy. Mirafiori is the birthplace of the Fiat 500, a symbol of our beloved country from Turin to Tokyo, Los Angeles to Sao Paulo, and Berlin.
The hybrid version will be developed, engineered and designed in Turin, just like the 500e. In short, it will be Made in Mirafiori. This pure Italianness also applies to its components: the engine will come from the Stellantis plant in Termoli, the exhaust system will be produced in Napoli, and the gearbox will also be manufactured in Mirafiori.
FIAT is strongly reaffirming its commitment to electric vehicles, the 500 and Mirafiori. Recently, a 100-million-euro investment has been announced to boost the potential of the iconic Fiat 500e with a redesigned platform that will embed new generation battery tech to make this model more affordable for customers.
