Prime Video is set to explore the extraordinary life and career of Gary Lineker in a new four-part documentary series, launching globally in 2027.
Gary Lineker is getting the documentary treatment, with Prime Video announcing a new four-part docuseries that promises to explore the football icon’s remarkable 50-year career both on and off the pitch.
Titled Lineker (working title), the upcoming series is currently filming and will launch exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide in 2027. It will be available to Prime members at no additional cost.
Gary Lineker’s Story, In His Own Words
Produced by Orchard Studios, Lineker will chart the former England striker’s journey from his childhood in Leicester to becoming one of the country’s most recognisable footballers, before following his transition into broadcasting, entrepreneurship and podcasting.
The series promises an unusually personal look at Lineker’s life, combining archive footage with previously unseen personal material and candid interviews.
At the centre of the documentary will be Lineker himself, with the broadcaster set to discuss his career, experiences and controversies in what Prime Video describes as his first truly unfiltered account of his journey.
Family members, former teammates, friends and critics will also feature, offering perspectives on the events and moments that have shaped Lineker’s public life.
From England Football Hero to Broadcasting Icon
Lineker remains one of England’s most celebrated footballers, having represented the national team during an illustrious playing career before becoming one of British television’s most familiar sporting faces.

Executive Producer Dan Grabiner said the documentary would go beyond the headlines and examine the different sides of one of Britain’s most recognisable and divisive public figures.
Prime Video Continues Its Sports Documentary Push
Lineker joins an expanding collection of sports documentaries available through Prime Video, which includes titles covering some of the biggest names and teams in international sport.
The platform’s football offering already includes documentaries such as Rooney, That Peter Crouch Film and We Are Newcastle United, alongside the hugely popular All or Nothing franchise.
The service also carries documentaries focused on sporting figures including Novak Djokovic, Rory McIlroy and Kenny Dalglish, while Prime Video continues to expand its live sports coverage around the world.
For football fans, the new Lineker documentary adds another high-profile name to Prime Video’s growing catalogue of football-focused original programming.
