La Rochelle winger Jack Nowell will wear a pair of custom-designed boots during the French club’s European Champions Cup last-16 match against Munster at the Stade Marcel Deflandre to raise awareness for the 2025 Wings For Life World Run.
Red Bull athlete Nowell will then offer the one-of-a-kind boots, crafted by award-winning artist and customiser Jordan Dawson, as a prize to one lucky, randomly-selected, member of his Wings for Life World Run team after the match.
Wings for Life World Run is a unique global race available for both runners and wheelchair participants in which participants run away from a moving, virtual finish line in the app. Instead of a set finish line, competitors across the world all start at the same time and race to keep ahead of a moving finish line called the Virtual Catcher Car which tracks your progress in the Wings for Life World Run app.
When designing the bespoke pair of boots for Nowell and the Wings for Life World Run, Dawson drew inspiration from the intricate patterns of nerve endings. He has incorporated the delicate, web-like structures into the boots’ aesthetic, symbolising the vital connection between nerves and movement which is at the heart of the Wings For Life Foundation’s mission to help find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

“I’m really excited to announce this initiative with Wings for Life,” said Nowell ahead of the match this weekend. “I’m hoping that first and foremost this will encourage people to sign up for this year’s Wings for Life World Run and help us raise as much money as possible during this year’s App Run. The Wings for Life Foundation is doing amazing work to help find a cure for spinal cord injuries and I’m pleased to play my part in trying to raise awareness of this. I’d also like to thank Jordan for creating such a great design on the boots.”
Jordan Dawson, the artist behind the boot design, said: “I’ve always loved customising shoes and boots for professional athletes, so when I have the chance to use my skills and experience to help do something for a great cause like Wings for Life it’s a big added bonus. Competition Details:
- Participants must be 18 years or older and reside in the UK to be eligible
- The winner will be selected randomly and notified via email by Monday 14th April.
- The winner will have until Wednesday 16th April to claim their prize. If unclaimed, a new winner will be selected
