BRITS REVEAL WHAT THEY’RE WILLING – AND NOT WILLING – TO SHARE IN NEW VODAFONE AND THREE “SHARE INDEX”

From phone chargers to desserts, Brits have strong opinions about what’s worth sharing – and what’s strictly off-limits. Vodafone and Three have teamed up to celebrate a new era of automatic network sharing, giving customers access to each other’s networks for more coverage, faster speeds, and greater reliability at no extra cost.

What Brits Refuse to Share

Research from Vodafone and Three, surveying 2,000 UK adults, reveals surprising habits when it comes to sharing everyday items. Personal care items top the “hands-off” list: 52% of Brits won’t share razors, 46% avoid lending deodorant, and one in five (20%) draw the line at skincare altogether. It seems people are fiercely protective of their hygiene routines.

Tech isn’t exempt either. Over a third (34%) of respondents wouldn’t share their earphones, and although most men (86%) are happy to swap in-ear devices, 20% of women remain unwilling. Phone chargers also spark debate: three in ten couples (31%) won’t let their partner borrow a charger, with 27% admitting to feeling frustrated when personal items are used without permission.

And when it comes to dessert? Sharing isn’t always sweet. Over a third (36%) of Brits wouldn’t share pudding with a partner, even on date night.

Celebrity Takes on Sharing

Actor James Buckley and podcast co-host Clair Buckley joined Vodafone and Three to discuss the nation’s sharing quirks. James shared, “I’m not normally very relaxed about sharing… but I do like sharing music with Clair – it’s one of the reasons we got together. And sharing can often make life better. Now Vodafone and Three have combined their network, I don’t even have to think about it; the sharing’s automatic.”

Clair added, “James will use anyone’s earphones without a second thought, but I won’t use his. It turns out we’re all weirdly particular about different things, from food to tech. Seeing what the nation says they’d share was a lot of fun, especially when it came to sharing deodorant.”

Items Brits Are Happy to Share

Not everything is fiercely guarded. Some things are better when shared:

  • 24% believe pizza should always be split

  • 53% are happy to go halves on a sandwich

  • 75% will share a portion of chips

  • 74% are willing to tuck into each other’s snack selection

Sharing, it seems, matters most when it strengthens connections.

Network Sharing That Actually Works

For mobile users, sharing just got easier. Three in five Brits (61%) said they wish they could access more than one reliable mobile network when Wi-Fi isn’t available. Thanks to Vodafone and Three’s automatic network sharing, this is now possible. Customers’ devices connect seamlessly to the best available network – whether Vodafone or Three – without extra effort or cost.

The Benefits of Vodafone and Three’s Combined Networks

A spokesperson from VodafoneThree explained: “Our research shows while some things are strictly off-limits for Brits to share, others are simply better when shared – like our networks. By bringing Vodafone and Three’s networks together, we’re giving customers the best of both worlds: more coverage, faster speeds, and greater reliability – automatically and at no extra cost – proving it’s better to share.”

With more than 8,000 shared network sites live, over 21 million customers now enjoy the benefits of two networks in one.
