Amazon has announced its fastest-ever delivery speeds for Prime members in 2025, with over 1.6 billion items arriving the same or next day in the UK alone. Globally, the retail giant delivered more than 13 billion items within the same timeframe, highlighting the ongoing growth and efficiency of its logistics network.
Prime members in the UK saved an average of over £200 on fast, free delivery last year, more than double the cost of an annual membership. Popular items delivered on the same day included everyday essentials like coffee pods, oat drinks, WaterWipes, toilet paper, and pet food, alongside health and wellness supplements such as vitamin D3, magnesium, and omega-3 fish oil.
“Fast, reliable delivery makes a real difference to our customers’ everyday lives, particularly across our wide selection of groceries and household essentials,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager at Amazon. “That’s why we continue to invest and innovate to make Prime delivery even faster, placing products closer to customers so they can get what they need, when they need it.”
Fast Deliveries Across the UK
Prime deliveries set new speed records across the country, from a rain poncho delivered in Birmingham in under two hours during a sudden downpour to a tyre pump in Altrincham that helped a shopper get back on the road by lunchtime.
Regional trends also stood out in 2025:
-
Scotland: Irn-Bru was the most ordered fast delivery item, with Falkirk topping the list.
-
Aberdeen: Dog food, especially Lily’s Kitchen wet trays, was a fan favourite.
-
Wales: Matcha powder, like Heapwell Matcha in Cardiff, rode the global wellness trend.
-
Brighton: Milk alternatives, particularly Oatly Barista Oat Drink, were highly popular.
-
Manchester & Liverpool: Beauty products like Maybelline Sky High Mascara and Revlon Professional UniqOne Hair Treatment flew off the shelves.
-
London: Health and fitness supplements were in high demand among fast delivery shoppers.
Seasonal trends also shaped Prime orders, from vitamins in January and allergy tablets in spring, to fruit fly traps in summer, and festive items like Star Wars Advent Calendars for Christmas — delivered in under two hours in some cases.
Continuing to Deliver for Prime Members
Since its UK launch in 2007, Amazon Prime has revolutionised online shopping with free One-Day Delivery. Today, millions of popular items are available with unlimited fast, free One-Day Delivery, with Same-Day Delivery offered on over a million items in more than 80 towns and cities across the UK (minimum order values apply). Members can also choose delivery to Amazon Lockers or Counters, or select a delivery day via Amazon Day.
Beyond delivery, Prime offers a wide range of benefits, from exclusive deals and shopping events like Prime Day, to streaming services like Prime Video and Amazon Music, as well as discounts with partners including Odeon and Deliveroo.
Faster Delivery Through Innovation and Investment
Amazon continues to invest heavily in the UK, committing £40 billion over three years to modernise and expand its network. This includes boosting the online delivery of groceries and household essentials, now accounting for one in three items ordered daily.
Faster delivery is achieved not just by moving goods quicker, but by innovating across Amazon’s operations network — including placing products closer to customers for shorter travel distances.
Amazon is also testing Amazon Now, an ultra-fast delivery service offering groceries and household essentials via electric-assisted pedal bikes in approximately 30 minutes or less. Currently available in select Southwark postcodes, the service is set to expand across London in the coming months.
Customers can sign up to Prime at amazon.co.uk/prime to enjoy fast, free delivery, exclusive deals, and a host of entertainment benefits.
