Traditional Irish music icons The Wolfe Tones have announced their last ever London show – and their biggest UK show to date – taking place at Finsbury Park on Friday 5 July 2024. Celebrating 60 legendary years together, they will be joined by The Undertones, The Sharon Shannon Big Band, The Scratch and Brògeal for the momentous occasion. Tickets go on general sale at 9AM on Friday 15 March 2024 via www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
“The Irish diaspora across the world have always been massive supporters of The Wolfe Tones, and no greater support was had than from the Irish in Britain! I wrote ‘My Heart Is In Ireland’ as a tribute to the Irish in England, Scotland and Wales. The London Irish hold a very special place in our hearts, there are too many shows to mention but the great nights in The National in Kilburn will never be forgotten. It is most fitting that The Wolfe Tones 60th Anniversary Concert will be our final London performance. It will also be our largest ever in the UK, with a headline set in Finsbury Park! We promise to make it a very special experience for what we hope will be a massive attendance as we say farewell to London – Let The People Sing!”
Brian Warfield, The Wolfe Tones
From humble beginnings in Dublin to the hallowed halls of Carnegie Hall in New York and the Paris Olympia, The Wolfe Tones have enthralled generations of Irish music fans across the world with their own unique style for 60 years. In a career spanning from 1964 to 2024, the group have firmly solidified their iconic and legendary status as pioneers in the traditional Irish music genre.
Following a record-breaking appearance at Ireland’s Electric Picnic in 2023, which saw the much-cherished band draw one of the biggest crowds in the festival’s history, The Wolfe Tones now prepare to bid farewell to London with their final ever show in the capital – and their biggest UK show to date.
Joining them at Finsbury Park will also be Northern Irish titans, The Undertones. Forming in Derry in 1974, the revered punk legends honed their craft by practicing in their bedrooms and listening to John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show, a figurehead who later became one of their biggest supporters. Fresh from last year’s 45th anniversary tour for their breakout hit ‘Teenage Kicks’, their appearance at Finsbury Park this summer alongside The Wolfe Tones will be one for the history books.
Michael Bradley of The Undertones says: “It’s great to be sharing a stage (as well as half a name) with The Wolfe Tones on an historic day for them.”
Also performing at Finsbury Park will be The Sharon Shannon Big Band, a multi-platinum selling artist who continues to redefine and reimagine the boundaries of Irish traditional music, progressive, genre-bending group The Scratch and rising Celtic folk-punk outfit from Falkirk, Brògeal.
Tickets for The Wolfe Tones at Finsbury Park go on general sale at 09:00AM on Friday 15 March 2024 from www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
