The 2024 season is expected to be exciting, as each team strives to close the gap with Williams in the coming year. Ahead of the start of the season, we are breaking down what you can expect from the teams.
Today, we will take a closer look at Williams.
Finishing seventh in the constructor’s championship with twenty-eight points, Williams saw many improvements during 2023. Under the direction of team principal James Vowles, the team is set on a path to bring the legacy team back to fighting in the midfield.
The Drivers
Alex Albon: Albon returns for his third season with the team in 2024, having finished thirteenth in the driver championship with twenty-seven points in 2023. He demonstrated improvement by ranking six places higher in the Drivers Championship than the previous season and securing the top ten positions in seven grands prix.
Logan Sargeant: Sargeant is returning for his second season with Williams in 2024 after a challenging rookie season. The American finished twenty-first with just one point, but despite this, the 23-year-old driver broke records in his first year. He was the first American driver to race in Formula One since 2015, and he also became the first American driver to score points since 1993.
Reserve Driver: At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation for the 2024 reserve driver.
Team Principal
James Vowles: Vowles returns for his second season as team principal in 2024, aiming to build on the team’s progress from their turnaround 2023 season. Vowels stated in a media interview in Las Vegas,
“So that’s a very different circumstance to where we were 12 months ago. But, as I said, our aspiration is to keep moving up the grid, beyond where we are now, and that’s going to take a lot more effort from where we are.”
