PENRHOS SPIRITS TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH LIMITED-EDITION PEAR & CHILLI GIN IN COLLABORATION WITH ODDBOX

Can you handle the heat? Award-winning British gin brand Penrhos Spirits has unveiled its boldest flavour yet — a Pear & Chilli Gin made using rescued fruit from sustainability champion Oddbox.

Launched on 1st November 2025, just in time for Bonfire Night, the limited-edition batch of only 500 bottles blends sweet pear with fiery jalapeño for a unique “swicy” (sweet + spicy) experience.

Fighting Food Waste, One Bottle at a Time

The innovative spirit continues Penrhos’ mission to combat food waste by transforming Oddbox’s “imperfectly perfect” pears and misshapen locally grown chillies that would otherwise go unused. This marks the second collaboration between the two eco-conscious brands, following 2023’s Cucumber & Apple Gin — a sell-out success.

“The best flavours often come from the most unexpected places,” says Emilie Vanpoperinghe, CEO and co-founder of Oddbox. “This collaboration supports growers and proves what’s possible when we rethink food waste.”

A “Swicy” Sensation for 2025

With “sweet heat” emerging as a major global flavour trend in 2025, Penrhos’ Pear & Chilli Gin offers a perfect seasonal twist for winter cocktails and Christmas gifting. The team’s Chief Gin Taster panel tested over 20 formulations before landing on the winning recipe — balancing pear sweetness with a warming chilli kick.

Co-founder Harriet Evans explains: “This has been our most challenging gin yet. The wonky, extra-spicy jalapeños pushed us to rethink our entire process, but the result is a smooth, sweet, and seriously heated gin that spice lovers will adore.”

To celebrate the launch, Penrhos and Oddbox created a fun online quiz — Pick Your Pearsonality helping gin fans discover whether they’re “sweet”, “spicy”, or “bold” drinkers, with personalised cocktail recipes for each.
