What to eat now: Boxpark

BOXPARK is excited to announce a series of new and exciting street food traders joining its roster this summer across its London locations.

Its flagship Shoreditch venue boasts new traders offering vegan Pan-Asian street food, pillowy Neapolitan pizzas, award-winning healthy breakfasts, and an irresistible dessert station whilst BOXPARK Wembley introduces some good old fish & chips, and Greek-style gyros with tasty grilled meats.

SHOREDITCH

MAO CHOW
As veganism continues to be a mainstream lifestyle in London, the capital’s food scene now has an abundance of choice for plant eaters, and Shoreditch is home to many incredible vegan-friendly restaurants, food stalls, bakeries and smoothie bars. BOXPARK Shoreditch has just welcomed Mao Chow to give foodies a Pan-Asian vegan experience.

After getting hooked on Chinese flavours during his time working with Chef Jonathan Wu, Californian-born chef Julian Denis has been popping up around East London since 2017 with his plant-based, self-defined “inauthentic Chinese food” (Behind This Wall, Pamela).

In 2019 he went brick-and-mortar in the tiniest spot behind London Fields, on Mare Street. Mao Chow became an instant classic with Hackney locals for late night noodles and shots of baijiu. Expect spicy Dan Dan Noodles, Dumplings in Chilli Oil and spicy + tingly Chongqing Cauliflower.

Mao Chow is now open at BOXPARK Shoreditch – find them at Unit 56.

OATOPIA
With popular breakfast stations at BOXPARK Croydon and Wembley, Oatopia is a long-standing member of the BOXPARK family and has now arrived at the Shoreditch venue too. Starting off as just a family owned, independent business in 2011 in a small trailer serving coffee, cake and oats to hungry runners, Oatopia is now an award-winning healthy breakfast bar.

Everything on the menu at BOXPARK Shoreditch will be made fresh – think toasted bagels, porridge and fruit smoothies. Made with love, care and creative flair, using only Mornflake oats, their flapjacks are nicknamed ‘fatjacks’ due to their super size – as high as they are wide. There are also plenty of vegan, wheat and gluten free options available.

Oatopia has an awesome team who are passionate about food and coffee, and love some good chat and banter. Find Oatopia at Unit 71 and give their oats a try.

FATTO A MANO
Famous Brighton-based pizzeria Fatto A Mano launched its very first London outlet at BOXPARK Croydon last October and following their huge success with deliveries during the lockdown and incredible pizza sales throughout Euro 2020, they are ready to take over the pizza scene in Shoreditch.

Fatto A Mano serves up soft and pillowy pizzas with fresh dough made from scratch daily, proved for a minimum of 24 hours and then topped and cooked at 450+ degrees by their pizza chefs. The most popular pizzas are the classic Margherita, the N’duja – a super punchy flavour from the spicy pork, salami and roasted peppers, and the Burratina – with an amazing cheese pull, yellow cherry tomatoes, provola, and crushed pistachio.

As well as red pizzas and white pizzas (no tomato base), they also cook up two great vegan pizzas, and any pizzas can be ordered with their non-gluten pizza base. Prices range from £7 to £11.50 – diners can get a Margherita for just £8.

Find Fatto A Mano in Unit 58 in BOXPARK Shoreditch in late July.

LOVE CHURROS
Love Churros opened its first permanent ‘churros station’ at BOXPARK Croydon in October 2020 and just eight months later despite the national lockdown, they are ready to bring their friendly fried treats to the heart of Shoreditch.

Coming to BOXPARK Shoreditch in late July, Love Churros offers every churro imaginable, from filled churros to straight currors or looped churros to churros topped with ice cream. In addition to churros, the menu boasts freshly-baked poffertjes – mini Dutch fluffy pancakes which can be served with nutella, white chocolate and cranberry, lotus biscoff, and honey. There is also a variety of delicious donuts available in a box of three, six or single that can be enjoyed with its signature deluxe Hot Chocolate, or premium milkshakes including Oreo, Bounty, Kinder, or Malteser.

With its baked goods always cooked from scratch, Love Churros believes their churros are the best and say “no one does churros like us”. Regular churros start from £5, milkshakes are £4 and you can get 10 poffertjes for £5.

Find Love Churros in Unit 31 at BOXPARK Shoreditch.
