Professional dancer and TV personality Vito Coppola swapped the ballroom for the waterways of London’s Little Venice today, as he was spotted delivering pizzas by gondola to celebrate the launch of Domino’s new Italianos range.
In a playful activation that brought a taste of la dolce vita to the capital, Domino’s transformed a traditional Venetian-style gondola into the “Domdola” – a tongue-in-cheek nod to the iconic Italian vessel. Gliding through the canals of Little Venice, the floating pizza delivery service turned heads as Vito served up slices with signature Italian charm.
Vito Coppola Brings Italian Flair To Domino’s ‘Domdola’
Known for his high-energy performances on UK television, Vito embraced the campaign’s theatrical spirit, bringing charisma, humour and a distinctly Italian flair to the canal-side celebration.
Speaking about the experience, Vito said:
“As an Italian, I take my pizza very seriously. So, if you’re going to bring a slice of Italy to the UK, you have to do it properly. Swapping the dancing shoes for a gondola was not something I thought I would be adding to my CV, but for the Domino’s Italianos range I wanted to give it a proper Italian welcome. The new range really delivers on those fancy flavours and thinner crusts from home. This is la dolce vita, in the Domino’s style I love.”
The activation highlighted the launch of Domino’s new Italian-inspired menu, which takes a more refined approach to its classic offering, featuring thinner crust bases and elevated flavour combinations inspired by traditional recipes.
A Proposal On The Canals Adds Unexpected Romance
The Domdola experience wasn’t just about pizza. In a surprise moment that added a romantic twist to the launch, one couple experienced an unforgettable engagement on board the gondola.
Mei-lei proposed to his partner Sharna while cruising through Little Venice, with Vito cheering them on as she said yes.
Mei-lei said:
“I was already planning to propose, but I never expected the moment to happen like this. Sharna and I were walking along the canals of Little Venice when we spotted Vito on a gondola. He invited us on board, and suddenly it became the most mad, magical and unexpected experience. Popping the question with Vito there cheering us on made it feel like something out of a film. I’m so happy she said yes!”
Domino’s celebrates Italian-inspired menu expansion
The new Italianos range from Domino’s Pizza is inspired by traditional Italian recipes and focuses on lighter, thinner crusts paired with premium-style toppings. Fan favourites such as the Classico Chicken & Pesto pizza also make a return as part of the refreshed line-up.
