A new study has revealed that League of Legends was the most-watched game on the streaming platform Twitch, over the past month.
The research was conducted by gambling site kingcasinobonus.uk who analysed data from Twitch’s most streamed games of November 2022, along with the top streamer for each of these. Data was gathered from twitchmetrics.net.
In first place for the most watched games of November 2022 on Twitch, is League of Legends with 100,330,234 total viewership hours (hours live x average viewers). The most watched streamer for this game for November was the game’s developer’s channel ‘Riot Games’, with 10,263,522 total viewership hours from their channel alone. This amounts to approximately 10.2% of all viewership hours. Riot Games recently hosted the League of Legends World Championship 2022, which had the finals on November 5th 2022 – surely helping them to first place.
The second most-watched game is Grand Theft Auto: V with 96,029,160 total viewership hours. The most watched streamer for GTA:V was ‘summit1g’ with 6,272,719 total viewership hours, this amounts to approximately 6.5% of all viewership hours. Real name Jaryd Lazar, summit1g is an American Twitch streamer and former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player. He has been streaming several games since 2012.
The third most-watched game on Twitch in November was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with 88,800,446 total viewership hours. The most watched streamer for CS:GO was ‘Gaules’ with a massive 22,631,679 total viewership hours from his channel alone, this amounts to approximately 25.5% of all viewership for the game in the last month. Gaules’ real name is Alexandre Borba, and he is a Brazilian streamer who is an ex-professional Counter-Strike player. He is the oldest streamer on the list at 38 years old.
In fourth place is another game developed by Riot Games, Valorant with 61,749,719 total viewership hours. The most watched Valorant streamer was ‘fps_shaka’, a streamer who hails from Japan and whose real name is Chikara Kawakami. In total his viewership hours for Valorant was 6,277,377 hours, which is approximately 10.2% of all viewership for the last month.
In fifth place is a game developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 with 51,715,031 total viewership hours. Overwatch 2’s most watched streamer was ‘stylishnoob4’ with 4,986,241 total viewership hours on their individual channel. Real name Yuta Seki, stylishnoob4 is from Japan and has been streaming a variety of games since 2013.
In sixth place is Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II with 47,103,889 total viewership hours. The game’s most-watched streamer in November 2022 was ‘Symfuhny’ with 4,970,933 total viewership hours. An American whose real name is Mason Lanier, Symfuhny also regularly plays with other well-known streamers such as ‘Tfue’,’TimTheTatman’ and ‘CouRage’. He is the youngest streamer on this list at 22 years old.
The seventh-placed game for the most watched game on Twitch in November 2022, is Mojang Studios’ Minecraft with 42,392,147 total viewership hours. Minecraft’s most-watched streamer was ‘auronplay’ with 5,628,693 total viewership hours. The Spaniard, Raúl Álvarez Genes; also known as auronplay, has only been streaming on Twitch since 2019 but prior to that had quite a YouTube following.
In eighth place is the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone, developed by Raven Software and Infinity Ward. The game has 38,158,512 total viewership hours. The most watched streamer for this title is the Frenchman Yann Latapie, or ‘ChowH1’ as he is known on stream. His total viewership for November 2022 was 2,204,052 hours.
The ninth-placed game is Santa Monica Studio’s action/adventure game, God of War: Ragnarök which had 36,962,750 total viewership hours. The most watched streamer for God of War: Ragnarök was ‘IlloJuan’ a Spanish streamer whose real name is Juan Alberto. His total viewership for November 2022 on the game was 4,392,700 hours.
In tenth place is Valve developed MOBA game DOTA 2 (Defence of the Ancients 2), which had 36,042,238 total viewership hours. The most watched streamer for DOTA 2 was ‘dota2ti’ the official twitch stream for ‘The International’, or the DOTA 2 world championships. The total viewership for the channel for November 2022 was 4,545,799 hours.
A spokesperson for kingcasinobonus.uk commented on the study: “One important point that this study has highlighted is the longevity of some games. The top three games; League of Legends, GTA: V and CS:GO, first came out in 2009, 2013, and 2012 respectively, but are still finding large viewing audiences on Twitch. It really shows that it can be tough for newer games to gain as much of a following.”
