Star Wars Day – Products ky Rocketing on StockX

With Star Wars Day taking place today (May 4th) and the franchise marking its 45th anniversary this year here’s some data provided by online marketplace StockX on the Star Wars products that have been gaining popularity in the lead up to the big day.

Across all product categories, there are now over 800 actively traded Star Wars-related product listings on StockX, compared to less than 350 listings a year ago, which represents an increase of 130%.

Trades of Star Wars-related collectibles increased 350% year-over-year on StockX and sales of Star Wars-themed. Apparel and accessories were 15x higher in Q1 2022 compared to Q1 of last year.     

Notable collaborations and nostalgia marketing have helped fuel multi-generational love for Star Wars. Popular sneaker and streetwear brands like Kith, Nike, and adidas have tapped into the iconic imagery and themes from the franchise, proving the legacy and reach of Star Wars goes far beyond the film-fanatic community. Brands such as LEGO, Nerf, Xbox, and Topps have also tapped into the fandom, which has resulted in Star Wars related products taking over the resale industry and spiking leading up to franchise’s day of commemoration.

Collectibles trades are up: In Q1 2022, trades of Star Wars-related collectibles on StockX were up 350% compared to Q1 2021. Apparel & accessories trades are up: In Q1 2022, trades of Star Wars-related apparel and accessories on StockX were more than 15x higher compared to Q1 2021.

Across all product categories, there are now over 800 actively traded Star Wars-related product listings on StockX, compared to less than 350 listings a year ago, which represents an increase of 130%.The growth of product offerings was driven by collectible brands like LEGO and Funko!, which have increased the number of in-demand Star Wars-related releases, and apparel brands like KITH, which dropped an official Star Wars apparel collection in late 2021 that immediately sold out at retail.

Across all product categories, the top-traded brands with Star Wars products over the last 12 months are:

  • LEGO – Tapping into the nostalgic childhood toys and collectibles, LEGO collaborated with Star Wars multiple times on collector series sets including the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series AT-AT Set, which is considered the most detailed Star Wars set to date.
  • adidas
  • KITH – In December, New York-based lifestyle brand Kith released a 54 item collection in collaboration with Star Wars, depicting some of the most iconic characters and scenes of the franchise. Soon after the collection sold out on Kith’s website, StockX saw an XX% boost in Star Wars apparel such as the Kith Star Wars Beginning Vintage Tee and the Kith Star Wars Storm Trooper Rug.
