SHAKE SHACK UK CELEBRATES ONE YEAR OF WILDFARMED PARTNERSHIP USING REGENERATIVE FLOUR IN BURGER BUNS!

Shake Shack UK is marking a major sustainability milestone as its partnership with regenerative farming pioneers Wildfarmed enters its second year. Since launching in 2025, the collaboration has seen more than 35 tonnes of regeneratively grown flour used in Shake Shack’s signature burger buns across the UK.

The initiative is part of Shake Shack UK’s wider mission, Stand For Something Good, which focuses on ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility, and community impact.

A Year of Regenerative Baking at Shake Shack UK

Since June 2025, Shake Shack UK has been using Wildfarmed flour in its burger buns, making it one of the first fine-casual dining brands in the UK to adopt regenerative wheat at scale.

In just 12 months, the partnership has incorporated over 35 tonnes of Wildfarmed flour into menu items served across Shake Shack UK locations.

The move ensures that one of the brand’s most essential ingredients—the humble burger bun—now plays a role in supporting more sustainable farming practices.

What is Wildfarmed Flour?

Wildfarmed flour is produced using regenerative agriculture methods, which aim to restore soil health and strengthen ecosystems rather than deplete them.

Grown in the UK, the wheat is farmed using practices that prioritise:

  • Improved soil health
  • Increased biodiversity
  • Reduced water pollution
  • Lower carbon emissions

These methods work in harmony with nature, helping to create a more resilient and sustainable food system.

Sustainability at the Core of Shake Shack’s Mission

The partnership reflects Shake Shack’s broader sustainability commitments under its global ethos, Stand For Something Good, which prioritises responsible sourcing and positive social impact.

By integrating regenerative ingredients into a widely loved product like burger buns, the brand is helping bring sustainable farming into the mainstream—without compromising on taste or quality.

Voices Behind the Partnership

Richard Franks, Business Director at Shake Shack UK, commented:

“Our burger buns make up part of the core foundation of Shake Shack, so we’re proud they continue to deliver the same great taste and quality, now made with regeneratively grown flour from Wildfarmed. This partnership reflects our commitment to doing what’s right over what’s easy.”

He added that the collaboration reflects ongoing investment in transparency and better farming practices while maintaining the Shake Shack experience customers expect.

Edd Lees, Co-founder of Wildfarmed, said:

“Shake Shack has helped bring regenerative farming to a wider audience through a product millions of people already know and love.”

He highlighted that initiatives like this help increase awareness of how food production impacts the environment and the potential benefits of regenerative agriculture.

Driving Awareness of Regenerative Agriculture

The collaboration between Shake Shack UK and Wildfarmed is part of a growing movement in the food industry to rethink how ingredients are sourced.

By embedding regenerative flour into a staple menu item, the partnership demonstrates how large-scale hospitality brands can support environmental change in practical, scalable ways.

What’s Next for Regenerative Food in the UK?

As demand for sustainable dining continues to rise, partnerships like this could become increasingly common across the UK hospitality sector.
