Boisdale is bringing a taste of Notting Hill Carnival to Canary Wharf this Summer Bank Holiday, with the legendary Saxon Sound System taking over the venue for an evening of reggae, dancehall, and Carnival classics. Taking place on Saturday 29th August, the Pre-Bank Holiday Carnival Party will combine live DJ sets and MCing with Caribbean-inspired food, cocktails, and Boisdale’s award-winning drinks selection.
Saxon has played a major role in British music for decades, launching the careers of countless recording artists and influencing acts including Soul II Soul and Massive Attack. Powered by Boisdale’s Nexo sound system, DJs MUSCLEHEAD, SEAN M, VICTOR V, and SIR ALLAN BRANDO will be delivering classic anthems and newer sounds, with live MCing, singalong moments, and the option to pre-book celebration shout-outs for the night.
The food for the evening unites Boisdale’s prized Scottish heritage with Caribbean classics, featuring everything from West Indian saltfish fritters with a hot and spicy dipping sauce and jerk chicken with rice, peas, and mango salsa, to Dunkeld Classic Oak Smoked Salmon, smoked haddock and Hebridean cod fish cake, and crispy haggis bon-bons. For something more substantial, guests can choose from a menu that includes 12oz prime ribeye, cheese and bacon burger, and buttermilk chicken Milanese, before finishing with their pick of dessert – with the sticky toffee pudding with toffee and Jamaican rum sauce and Cornish clotted cream set to be a popular choice.
The party will take place across the first-floor Hine Bar with access to the heated outdoor terrace and cigar lounge. The Hine Bar and Garden Terrace will be serving expertly crafted cocktails, alongside an award-winning wine and spirit list, having been named home to the World’s Best Spirits List by The World of Fine Wine.
Entry and table reservations begin from 5pm. Guests are encouraged to arrive before 9pm, with entry not guaranteed after 11pm; a smart dress code applies, baseball caps are not permitted, and the event is strictly 25+. With Saxon’s DJs taking to the decks from 8pm until 2am, expect a late-night celebration full of great food, exceptional drinks, and some of the biggest sounds in reggae and dancehall this season.
