Red Bull is bringing its adrenaline-fuelled skate docuseries ‘Greetings From’ to the UK. Originating in the US, the three-part series will showcase skate culture in the UK, focusing on Glasgow, Manchester, and London.
Released on a daily basis, the episodes feature a variety of skaters and collectives from multiple backgrounds. The collectives are joined by special guests and Red Bull athletes Jake Wooten, Jamie Foy and Margie Didal, who explore what makes each city’s skate scene unique.
Kicking off the series in London the episode dips into the everchanging pockets of skate spots throughout the Capital – including notable areas such as the Southbank, known as the “birthplace of British skateboarding” to Victoria Park where mental health amongst skate culture is at the heart of what they do for the community.
Episode 2 heads to Manchester, a city which is not short of skateboarders, with new spots popping up at a fast rate to accommodate the increasing interest, even whilst facing lack of support from outside the skate community. This episode explores the challenges skaters face in the UK, such as lack of funding which leads to the creation of DIY skateboarding areas in previously neglected spaces.
The series concludes in Glasgow, where the episode focuses on the city’s welcoming culture and fast-paced development of DIY skate areas, and how skaters battle the traditionally wet weather.
Red Bull athlete Jamie Foy added: “The Loading Bay in Glasgow is one of my favourite parks right now. How they have incorporated it into the skate park instead of just destroying it was very cool to experience. I really enjoyed the scene in Manchester, skating through waves of smooth and rough terrain and exploring the great mix of old and new spots it has to offer in the city.”
From art to ground texture and everything in between, Greetings From offers a candid insight into what makes the UK skate culture so unique.
