RAKE’S SUNDAY ROAST PAYS TRIBUTE TO SCOTLAND WITH A ONE-DAY BURNS NIGHT FEAST

London’s beloved gastropub Rake is putting a proudly Scottish spin on its legendary Sunday roast, serving up a one-day-only Burns Night celebration at The Compton Arms on 25 January. Designed as an ode to Scotland’s rich culinary heritage, the special menu brings together classic roasts and traditional Scottish sides for a comforting winter feast.

Taking place on Burns Night weekend, the event invites diners to “address a haggis” in the most delicious way possible — by way of Rake’s much-loved roast dinners, reimagined with unmistakably Scottish flair.

A Scottish Twist on a Classic Sunday Roast

Guests can choose from Fosse Meadow chicken, lamb, marinated beef rump, or a vegetarian pie, each served with a generous selection of Scottish-inspired sides. Expect hearty plates loaded with haggis in blankets, neeps (turnips), rumbledethumps — the traditional baked potato, cabbage and onion dish often described as Scotland’s answer to bubble and squeak — alongside whisky-glazed carrots, crispy roast tatties, and towering Yorkshire puddings.

It’s a one-day-only menu that blends the comfort of a classic British roast with the bold, rustic flavours Scotland is known for.

Elevated Scottish Favourites

For those keen to explore more traditional dishes, Rake’s special Burns Night additions include a standout haggis pressed potato with green onion mayo, as well as a classic Arbroath Smokie — smoked haddock served on soda toast — a protected Scottish delicacy with centuries of history.

These smaller plates offer a more indulgent way to experience Scotland’s culinary staples, perfect for sharing or pairing with the main roast.

A Sweet Caledonian Finale

Dessert keeps things simple but indulgent. Rake’s Caledonian cream combines softly whipped cream with Scotch whisky and a hint of marmalade, delivering a light yet luxurious finish to the feast — and a fitting end to a Burns Night celebration.

When and Where

Rake’s Scottish Sunday roast will be available for one day only on 25 January at The Compton Arms, making it a must-book event for London food lovers and anyone looking to celebrate Burns Night with exceptional comfort food.
