NFL UK CELEBRATES BRITISH NFL STAR JACK CRAWFORD TEN YEAR NFL CAREER

NFL UK celebrated Jack Crawford’s illustrious career with a special screening of his life in the NFL at a theatre in London, following the announcement of his retirement after ten years in the league.

Born in Kilburn, north London, Crawford was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 2012 NFL Draft and went on to make 109 appearances in the league, including playing at Wembley in 2014.

Crawford attended a private screening at a cinema in Maida Vale where he watched former teammates, coaches, friends and celebrities talk about the impact he had on their lives, interspersed with highlights of his greatest moments.

Crawford received messages from former teammates, coaches and ex-NFL stars including Aden Durde, Efe Obada, Jason Bell, Osi Umenyiora and Dan Quinn.

An emotional Crawford said: “Being able to compete in the National Football League was one of the greatest privileges of my life. I have loved my journey and it was an honour to represent the UK in the NFL, and I hope we can see more British players competing in years to come. My playing days may have come to an end, but my time in American football certainly has not.”

After moving to the United States aged 17, Crawford secured a scholarship to Penn State University and after his rookie season in Oakland he appeared for Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals over the course of his decade in the NFL.

His most notable game in the NFL came with the Cowboys in 2014 when he made his first appearance at Wembley, during which he recorded a forced fumble and a sack in front of his friends and family.

Washington Commanders defensive end Efe Obada, said: “Congratulations on an amazing career, you’re a legend, an inspiration to everyone in the UK and in the US. You did that! On a personal note, I want to say thank you being a support system for me through the years. Thanks for being a brother and a friend. I wish you nothing but love and success in your next chapter.”

Whilst in the UK, Jack Crawford also visited students at the NFL Academy, imparting his experience and love for the game. Throughout his career, Crawford has helped mentor and advise prospective UK athletes. He will continue to support the growth of American Football in the UK.
