Writers Block
Writers Block will be coming to MCM Birmingham for the first time this week. The one-stop shop for everything brilliantly bookish, Writers Block will feature a curated selection of independent author tables.
The Hangout
Take a break from the show floor for crafting and bookish fan-meets in The Hangout at Writers Block. Activities will be taking place on all three days, including Bob Ross Paint Along and a range of crafty activities, such as bookmark making and cross stitch.
The Forest Glade
The Forest Glade is a mystical and immersive LARP area nestled within the heart of the convention. Activities will be taking place throughout the weekend, including sword fighting tutorials and showcases by the team at Silver Sabers Combat Academy.
Luke Evans* (The Hobbit / Beauty and the Beast)
Luke will be joining us to celebrate the release of his memoir ‘Boy From the Valleys: My Unexpected Journey’. Luke is best known for his roles as Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit, Gaston in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast and Dracula in Dracula Untold.
Luke will only be signing copies of his ‘Boy From The Valleys’ book – these can be bought on site or attendees can bring a copy of their own. He will not be taking part in additional signings or meet and greets on the day.
Chris Judge (God of War)
Chris is beloved for his portrayal of the gruff Spartan warrior, Kratos, in God of War from 2018 onwards. Additionally, Chris will be recognised as the Jaffa warrior Teal’c, from the classic sci-fi series, Stargate SG1.
Laurence Rickard (Ghosts)
Laurence is most recently known for co-writing and starring in BBC’s Ghosts, as the considerate and level-headed caveman Robin. He will also be recognised for his roles in Horrible Histories, Yonderland and Bill.
Ben Willbond (Ghosts)
Ben co-wrote Ghosts, and starred as the determined and uptight Captain. He can also be recognised for his roles in Horrible Histories, Yonderland and Bill.
