‘Run Rabbit’ Explores Trauma Through Dark Fairytale Pop
Written by Mollie Elizabeth alongside Josh Murty and produced by Murty, Run Rabbit explores the emotional aftermath of growing up in an unhealthy home environment.
Speaking about the track, Mollie Elizabeth explained:
“Run Rabbit, while a very whimsical song, is actually a darker look into what it was like growing up in an unhealthy household.”
She continued:
“There’s an indescribable feeling that comes along with the baggage of an imperfect childhood, one that begs the question, if you are excused for your immoral coping mechanisms because of your circumstance, or if it is your fault regardless.”
The single leans into the cinematic and eerie sonic palette that has quickly become synonymous with the artist’s growing catalogue.
Building A Distinctive Sonic Universe
Earlier this year, Mollie Elizabeth released The Mirror and Dog Eat Dog, two tracks that further established her unique blend of vintage-inspired pop and dark emotional undertones.
Discussing Dog Eat Dog, the 21-year-old artist described the song as a reflection on human nature and survival:
“All humans are, unfortunately, natural born predators. In my nature, and I think in many others, all I really want to do is cultivate peace and love, but in reality, this world is not peaceful.”
At the beginning of 2026, she also shared The Disappearing Girl, written alongside Madison Love and CJ Baran, with production from Baran at VAMP Studios in Los Angeles.
From ‘Dirty Blonde’ To Viral Success
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Mollie Elizabeth first introduced herself to audiences with the release of Vegas Venetian before dropping her debut EP Dirty Blonde.
The project showcased her dreamy songwriting style, merging melancholic themes with old-Hollywood glamour and ethereal visuals inspired by growing up in the woods of Washington State.
She also co-produced fan favourite Doe Eyes and collaborated with acclaimed writers including Dean Reid and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Casey Smith, known for work with Olivia Rodrigo, Ashe and Benson Boone.
Mollie Elizabeth says her music is designed to transport listeners into emotional “tiny worlds”:
“My music isn’t just for listening — it’s for wandering, for imagining, and for finding a piece of yourself in a place you’d forgotten.”
