MCLAREN AND ALLWYN UNVEIL THE WORLD’S FIRST SCRATCHABLE F1 RACE CAR IN LAS VEGAS

In a world-first collaboration, lottery-led entertainment company Allwyn and the McLaren F1 Team have revealed the Scratch Car — a life-sized, fully scratchable Formula 1 model designed to celebrate the excitement of the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend.

Unveiled at the LINQ Promenade on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, McLaren F1 driver Oscar Piastri introduced fans to the innovative installation: a full-scale F1 car built from 970 scratchable panels. Each panel offers visitors the chance to win exclusive McLaren experiences, prizes, and memorabilia.

A Paper Artist Turned Race-Car Designer

The Scratch Car was meticulously crafted by renowned paper artist and motorsport enthusiast Florian Weber, widely known as Paperlegend. Swapping traditional tools for scissors and precision blades, Weber spent weeks hand-building the car using hundreds of individually printed panels in McLaren’s signature papaya orange.

Fans in Las Vegas can visit and scratch the car from 18–19 November, gaining instant access to potential prizes — from team merchandise to VIP motorsport experiences.

Not in Vegas? You Can Scratch Online

For F1 fans around the world, Allwyn has also launched a digital Scratch Car experience. Participants can virtually scratch their own McLaren F1 car for a chance to win a hero prize:
a trip to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, UK, including a meet-and-greet with a McLaren F1 Team driver and a signed race suit.

To join the online version, fans can head to Allwyn Global’s Instagram page.

What the Teams Are Saying

Pavel Turek, Chief Officer of Global Partnerships at Allwyn, shared:

“Being an Official Partner of the McLaren F1 Team enables us to bring the entertainment and excitement of the sport to even more people… This world-first installation celebrates the spirit of taking a chance in a fun, creative way.”

Artist Florian Weber added:

“F1 drivers must be incredibly precise while also willing to take chances. That duality is exactly what the Scratch Car represents.”

McLaren Racing’s Chief Marketing Officer, Louise McEwen, emphasised the activation’s fan-first approach:

“We are continually exploring new and unexpected ways of connecting with our fans… whether that’s on the ground in Las Vegas or online.”

When & Where to Experience It

  • In Person: The Scratch Car is open at the LINQ Promenade, Las Vegas, 18–19 November.

  • Online: Digital scratches are available via Allwyn Global on Instagram until 25 November.
