LEGO AND MCLAREN MARK 1000TH F1 RACE WITH NEW HELMETS!

The LEGO Group and the McLaren Formula 1 Team have unveiled two exclusive LEGO Editions helmet sets to commemorate McLaren’s historic 1000th Formula 1 race.

Launched on 3 June 2026 ahead of the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix, the new collectibles celebrate drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with specially designed helmets that will not only be available as LEGO sets but will also inspire the real helmets worn by the drivers during the Monaco race weekend.

The launch marks the first time both drivers have been featured as LEGO minifigures within helmet display sets, offering Formula 1 fans and collectors a unique piece of motorsport history.

McLaren and LEGO Mark a Major Milestone

The announcement forms part of the long-running partnership between McLaren Racing and The LEGO Group, a collaboration that has spanned more than a decade.

According to Louise McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer at McLaren Racing, the project embodies the shared values of creativity and innovation that define both brands.

The special-edition helmets combine McLaren’s celebratory 1000th-race livery with design elements personally chosen by Norris and Piastri, resulting in race helmets that bridge the worlds of motorsport and LEGO creativity.

Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group, described the sets as a true co-creation process, with LEGO designers working directly alongside the drivers and McLaren Racing to develop the final products.

LEGO Editions Oscar Piastri Helmet

The LEGO Editions McLaren Mastercard F1 Team Oscar Piastri Helmet features McLaren’s iconic papaya colour scheme blended with Piastri’s signature blue accents.

The 793-piece display model includes:

  • Oscar Piastri LEGO minifigure
  • Fully printed anniversary livery details
  • Oscar’s race number integrated into the design
  • Black display stand
  • Printed signature plaque

Designed with collectors in mind, the finished model measures over 18cm high and serves as a display piece celebrating both McLaren’s racing legacy and Piastri’s growing status within Formula 1.

LEGO Editions Lando Norris Helmet

Fans of Lando Norris will find plenty to admire in the LEGO Editions McLaren Mastercard F1 Team Lando Norris Helmet.

Also consisting of 793 pieces, the model recreates Norris’ distinctive fluorescent “blob” design while incorporating elements from McLaren’s commemorative 1000th Grand Prix livery.

Highlights include:

  • Exclusive Lando Norris LEGO minifigure
  • Brick-built driver number “1”
  • Detailed printed graphics
  • Signature display stand and plaque
  • Co-created design developed with Norris himself

The set showcases advanced LEGO building techniques used to replicate the flowing organic shapes of a modern Formula 1 helmet.

Real Helmets to Debut at Monaco Grand Prix

Adding extra significance to the launch, the LEGO sets served as the inspiration for the actual race helmets that Norris and Piastri will wear during McLaren’s 1000th Formula 1 race appearance in Monaco.

The special helmets feature the same visual language seen in the LEGO models, combining the drivers’ personal branding with McLaren’s anniversary-themed race livery.

Daniel Meehan, Creative Lead for LEGO F1, revealed that both drivers contributed ideas throughout the design process, helping create authentic representations that fans can build and display at home.
