Football and Formula 1 fans are getting a crossover moment as Lando Norris joins Declan Rice in the latest episode of Arsenal’s original series Raising The Bar.
Available exclusively on The Arsenal, the new episode sees Rice head to the iconic McLaren Technology Centre for a behind-the-scenes experience with the reigning Formula One world champion.
The series explores the mentality, discipline and leadership required to succeed at the highest level of sport, with Rice sitting down alongside elite athletes and personalities to discuss pressure, preparation and performance.
Inside McLaren’s Formula 1 Headquarters
During the episode, Norris gives Rice a tour through McLaren’s legendary Formula 1 car collection, including the championship-winning car driven by Lewis Hamilton during the dramatic 2008 Formula 1 season finale in Brazil.
The pair also discuss how both football and Formula 1 have evolved into faster, more tactical sports where preparation and mental focus are more important than ever.
Rice said:
“F1 and football are very different, but both have changed so much over the years. The game is quicker, faster and more tactical, so if you don’t put yourself in the best position to perform, you haven’t got a chance of keeping up.”
Norris also opened up about handling nerves before races and the importance of concentration during competition.
“I get nervous, but as soon as I put my helmet on I’m on my own. I’ve got my engineer talking to me, but it’s just him in my ear and me — and that’s it.”
Declan Rice Tries McLaren’s F1 Simulator
One of the highlights of the episode sees Rice stepping into the world of Formula 1 by testing McLaren’s racing simulator under Norris’ guidance.
The feature offers Arsenal supporters a closer look at the precision, reactions and technical skill required behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car — while also showcasing the similarities between elite athletes across different sports.
Away from competition, the two stars also bond over their shared love of golf, the importance of family support and finding ways to switch off from the pressures of professional sport.
What Is The Arsenal Platform?
The episode forms part of Arsenal’s wider digital expansion through The Arsenal platform, launched earlier this year as a new online hub for supporters around the world.
The platform combines club news, exclusive interviews, original documentaries and fan-focused entertainment content alongside retail and ticketing services.
Other recent series available on the platform include The Link Up, featuring Bukayo Saka in conversation with figures from sport and culture, and Modern Leader, which focuses on Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard.
