KYLA’S ‘DO YOU MIND’ NAMED TIKTOK’S UK SONG OF THE SUMMER 2026 AS UK GARAGE MAKES A MAJOR COMEBACK

TikTok’s UK Songs of the Summer 2026 are in – and nostalgia, UK garage and football have dominated the soundtrack to the season.

UK garage has officially had a major revival this summer, with Kyla and DJ Paleface’s ‘Do You Mind (Remix)’ taking the crown as TikTok’s UK Song of the Summer 2026.

Originally released in 2008, the track has found a completely new generation of listeners through TikTok, generating more than 543 million video views across 644,000 creations in the UK during summer 2026. Its renewed popularity has also helped send the track back into the Official Singles Chart.

The result is a summer chart that blends iconic tracks from the past with some of the biggest new sounds in British music.

UK Garage Is Back in a Big Way

Kyla’s ‘Do You Mind’ sits at the top of a Top 10 that demonstrates just how strongly UK dance music has resonated with TikTok users this year.

Silva Bumpa’s ‘On 2nite’ takes third place, following its rise to Number 14 on the Official Singles Chart, while Prospa and Cloonee’s ‘Free Your Mind’ lands at Number 7 after reaching Number 6 in the UK charts.

The resurgence isn’t limited to individual songs, either. TikTok says the number of posts using #UKGarage increased by 42% between February and July 2026, while posts using #HouseMusic jumped by 53% during the same period.

The figures underline a wider resurgence of British dance music – something that has been reflected across festivals, nightlife and pop culture throughout the summer.

Kyla says the revival has been particularly special because it has introduced ‘Do You Mind’ to listeners who weren’t around when the track first appeared.

“Seeing a whole new generation connect with it has been incredible.”

The singer also highlighted the energy and community surrounding UK garage, describing the track’s return to the charts nearly two decades after its original release as a “really special full-circle moment.”

Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ Becomes England’s Summer Anthem

While UK garage dominated the dancefloor, Oasis provided one of the biggest nostalgic moments of the summer.

The band’s iconic ‘Wonderwall’ has been named TikTok’s second biggest UK Song of the Summer, helped enormously by England’s run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mass singalongs from England supporters turned the 1995 classic into an unofficial soundtrack for the tournament, with TikTok reporting a staggering 6,800% increase in searches for ‘Wonderwall’ since the start of the World Cup.

The song generated 336,000 TikTok creations and climbed back up the Official Singles Chart, reaching Number 2 during its 2026 resurgence.

Verge previously covered how ‘Wonderwall’ became one of the defining sounds of England’s World Cup campaign in our guide to TikTok’s biggest FIFA World Cup 2026 trends.

And Oasis aren’t represented by just one song. ‘Champagne Supernova’ also makes the Top 10 at Number 6, proving that the band’s catalogue continues to connect with audiences decades after the songs were first released.

Sam Fender, Olivia Dean and More Make the List

The TikTok chart isn’t solely about nostalgia.

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s ‘Rein Me In’ takes fourth place following a landmark run at the top of the UK charts. The track became the longest-running UK Number 1 single of all time, breaking a 73-year record.

Elsewhere, Aitch’s ‘RMB (Ring My Bell)’ lands at Number 9, becoming his 20th UK Top 40 hit.

Dave and Tems also make the list with ‘Raindance’, which spent two weeks at Number 1 and became Dave’s biggest US hit to date.

Meanwhile, the late Chris Rainbow has experienced an unexpected revival with ‘Be Like a Woman’, which has introduced his music to a new audience and earned the Scottish artist his first posthumous Billboard chart placement.

Bonnie Tyler’s timeless ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ also features in the Top 10.

Katy Perry Takes TikTok’s Global Song of the Summer Crown

The nostalgia doesn’t stop with the UK list.

Globally, Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ has been named TikTok’s Global Song of the Summer 2026.

The 2011 track, originally released as part of Perry’s hugely successful Teenage Dream album, has experienced an extraordinary second life on the platform.

According to TikTok, the song has appeared in more than 42 million videos worldwide, generating over 55 billion views. Its resurgence has also helped push the track back into charts around the world.

From emotional stories and covers to edits and nostalgic posts, TikTok users have transformed the song into one of the platform’s biggest catalogue revivals of 2026.

Perry described the renewed interest as “surreal”, saying it has been special to watch a new generation discover the track and make it part of their own stories.

What TikTok’s Summer Soundtrack Says About Music in 2026

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from this year’s list is that new music isn’t necessarily replacing old music – it’s giving it another life.

A 2008 UK garage track can become the biggest song of the summer. A 1990s Oasis anthem can become a football soundtrack for a new generation. And a 15-year-old Katy Perry ballad can suddenly dominate millions of videos around the world.

TikTok’s Songs of the Summer 2026 demonstrate how quickly music can move between generations, with creators transforming familiar songs into new cultural moments.

For the UK in particular, however, one thing is clear: UK garage is having a moment once again.

And if ‘Do You Mind’ is anything to go by, the genre’s latest revival could be only getting started.
