KOKUM, the acclaimed Indian restaurant in East Dulwich, is expanding its offering this May with a new all-day dining experience, along with a refreshed venue now offering a bar and lounge, as well as a terrace just in time for the warmer season for drinks, light bites, and sizzling summer BBQs.
The front of the restaurant has been transformed into a vibrant bar and casual dining area, where draught beers, cocktails, and Indian-inspired snacks are served. The terrace, which can seat up to 48, is perfect for al fresco dining as the weather gets warmer, or afternoons shaped around the popular drinks offering. At the rear, the main dining room continues to offer KOKUM’s signature modern Indian dishes, while the intimate dining room accommodates up to 24 guests for private dining, and hosts curated supper clubs celebrating regional Indian cuisine.
From casual drinks, a full feast, or a summer BBQ, the new layout means that guests can enjoy the experience and menus that suit their occasion best. The bar menu features snacks with Indian flair, including Madras Chicken Pasty, Battered Jumbo Chilli, and Naan Bites. The dining room continues to showcase classics such as Butter Chicken, Sticky Pork Ribs, and Malvani Fish. During summer, BBQs on the terrace offer marinated meats, fish, rice, and seasonal vegetables, and can also be booked privately for a more personalised experience.
Co-founder Simeron Lily Patel developed a passion for restaurants from a young age, turning toy ironing boards and cushions into fantasy eateries at home. Her early exposure to food through her father developed her love of Indian cuisine and hospitality, which now shapes KOKUM’s welcoming, dynamic environment. Co-founder Sanjay Gour brings extensive culinary experience, having trained under Angela Hartnett in Dubai and London before leading renowned kitchens and eventually focusing on Indian cuisine.
Beyond dining, KOKUM also offers exclusive cookery classes, from mastering curry from scratch to perfecting Indian breads. These hands-on workshops allow guests to learn techniques directly from the chefs and take home a deeper appreciation of Indian cooking – as well as providing the perfect setting for unique experiences with loved ones.
You can find KOKUM at 58-60 East Dulwich Road, Southwark, SE22 9AX. Explore the menus and book your table here.
