JD and Celtic FC have taken their partnership to the next level with an inspiring community coaching event held at the brand-new Barrowfield Training Centre in Glasgow. The collaboration marks the start of a long-term partnership focused on youth development, grassroots football, and local community engagement—values that sit at the heart of both brands.
100 Young Players Take to the Pitch
On Friday 24th October, 100 young players, boys and girls aged 3–12, took part in an exclusive training session led by Celtic FC coaches. The session brought together talented youngsters from the Celtic Soccer Academy and the local community, offering them a chance to train like the pros at the club’s state-of-the-art facility.
Adding to the excitement, Celtic first-team stars Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Anthony Ralston, and Celtic Women’s players Megan Cross and Adelaide Gay made a surprise appearance—joining in on drills, mini-matches, and photo ops. With local DJs spinning upbeat tracks, the day buzzed with energy and smiles all around.
Celebrating Future Talent
To round off an unforgettable day, every young participant received certificates, exclusive gifts, and took part in a Q&A session with Celtic FC coaches, who shared valuable tips and professional insights.
Speaking after the event, Joseph Simpson, Head of Partnerships at JD, said:
“We are so pleased to commit to a further long-term association with Celtic, one of the world’s great football clubs. Today was all about celebrating their brand-new women’s and academy training facility—a space dedicated to nurturing the next generation of players.”
A Partnership with Purpose
As part of the renewed partnership, JD will team up with Celtic FC’s Soccer Academy to roll out a new series of community football programmes hosted at Barrowfield. These initiatives aim to inspire the next generation to follow in the footsteps of Celtic legends past and present.
A spokesperson for Celtic FC added:
“Everyone at the club is delighted to continue this fantastic relationship with JD Sports—a leading brand with a huge presence across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia. JD’s commitment to our community through exciting programmes is something we’re incredibly proud to support.”
