INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026: BOROUGH YARDS CELEBRATES WOMEN WHO SHAPED OUR LIVES WITH INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION

Borough Yards is celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 with a meaningful public art installation designed to honour the women who shape our lives, while reinforcing the power of community, connection and gratitude in the heart of London Bridge.

From 5th – 8th March 2026, visitors to London’s creative and culinary hotspot can experience the free interactive installation, The Women That Made Us, a reflective mirror wall inviting the public to celebrate the women who have played pivotal roles in their personal journeys.

The installation is part of Borough Yards’ continued commitment to community-led cultural experiences, sitting alongside its diverse line-up of food, retail and lifestyle brands.

Celebrating Women Through Reflection and Gratitude

The interactive installation encourages Londoners to take part by writing messages directly onto the mirror wall dedicated to a woman who has impacted their life.

Whether it’s a mother, sister, best friend, mentor, colleague, or chosen family member, participants are invited to leave messages of appreciation, recognition and love — turning the wall into a living mural of shared experiences and gratitude.

The first 50 participants will also receive complimentary treats from Borough Yards’ popular businesses After School Cookie Club and Santa Nata, adding a sweet touch to the celebration.

This year’s activation reflects the growing importance of female friendship networks and chosen families, with many women finding emotional strength, support and resilience through their relationships with one another.

The Meaning Behind the Mirror Installation

At the heart of The Women That Made Us is the symbolic use of mirrors.

As participants write messages to honour someone else, they will also see their own reflection — acting as a subtle but powerful reminder that self-recognition and self-worth are just as important as celebrating others.

The installation aligns with the global International Women’s Day theme of “give to gain”, highlighting reciprocity, mutual support and collective empowerment.
