HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG have joined forces for a brand-new Girls’ Generation unit, Girls’ Generation-HRS, officially launching with their debut single ‘Skibidi’.
K-pop icons Girls’ Generation are entering a new chapter as HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG officially make their unit debut as Girls’ Generation-HRS.
The trio have released their first digital single, ‘Skibidi’, alongside B-side track ‘Lowkey In Love’, with both songs now available across major streaming platforms.
Girls’ Generation-HRS Bring Two Very Different Sounds
The unit’s debut project showcases two contrasting sides of HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG.
Title track ‘Skibidi’ moves between house and hip-hop, combining dynamic, genre-blending production with distinctive Arabic-inspired string samples. The song’s lyrics focus on independence and forging your own path, matching the playful confidence that sits at the heart of Girls’ Generation-HRS.
Meanwhile, B-side ‘Lowkey In Love’ takes a brighter and more retro-inspired direction. Upbeat brass, a groovy rhythm and an instantly memorable melody give the track a relaxed, feel-good energy.
The two-track release gives fans an early glimpse at what the three members can create together outside of Girls’ Generation’s group activities.
Girls’ Generation-HRS First Performed At CassCool Festival
Although ‘Skibidi’ marks the trio’s official recorded debut, HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG had already given fans a preview of their new unit.
Girls’ Generation-HRS performed both ‘Skibidi’ and ‘Lowkey In Love’ at the 2026 CassCool Festival, held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon on 22 August.
The festival performance offered fans an early opportunity to see the trio’s chemistry and stage presence before the official single release.
The unit’s formation also has a particularly playful origin.
From YouTube Series To Official K-Pop Unit
Girls’ Generation-HRS grew out of HYOYEON’s YouTube series Hyo’s Level Up, specifically the popular “Fake Kim Hyoyeon” series.
The series brought HYOYEON, YURI and SOOYOUNG together in a light-hearted setting as they competed for fictional roles including main vocalist and centre. Their natural chemistry and entertaining dynamic quickly resonated with fans.
Following the positive response, what began as a playful online concept evolved into a fully fledged Girls’ Generation unit.
Now, ‘Skibidi’ marks the trio’s first official release together as Girls’ Generation-HRS.
Girls’ Generation’s Enduring K-Pop Legacy
Originally debuting in 2007, Girls’ Generation have become one of the most influential groups in K-pop history.
