JOEL CORRY AND COMPARE THE MARKET’S MEERKATS DROP UNEXPECTED SUMMER ANTHEM ‘SIMPLES’ FEATURING SCRUFIZZER!

The race for the UK’s song of the summer has taken an unexpected turn, with Compare the Market’s famous meerkats stepping onto the dancefloor alongside DJ and producer Joel Corry for a viral new release that’s already making waves across social media.

The track, ‘SIMPLES (feat. Scrufizzer) [Joel Corry Remix]’, transforms the insurance brand’s iconic catchphrase into a high-energy club anthem inspired by the resurgence of UK funky house. Since debuting during Joel Corry’s Ibiza sets and festival appearances, the track has generated more than 2.6 million social media views and sparked a growing TikTok dance trend.

Fans can stream the song now on Spotify, YouTube, and other major platforms, with all royalties supporting the work of Teenage Cancer Trust.

A Viral Dance Track Nobody Saw Coming

Known for chart-topping hits including Head & Heart, Joel Corry has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most successful dance music exports. The producer has previously collaborated with major artists including MNEK, RAYE, Jason Derulo and Charli XCX.

The latest release sees Corry working alongside Compare the Market’s beloved meerkat mascots and grime veteran Scrufizzer, who delivers energetic bars throughout the track.

According to Corry, the challenge was to create something that felt nostalgic while still delivering a modern festival-ready sound.

“I remember seeing the iconic Meerkats adverts on TV and the ‘simples’ catchphrase became a part of British culture,” Corry said. “I wanted to make this a fun remix that would sound big in the club while also tapping into the nostalgia of music from the time the Meerkats first appeared on screens.”

TikTok Creators Help Fuel the Trend

The song has quickly found an audience on TikTok, where creators including Cach Mercer, Lewis Leigh and Timi have shared choreographed routines inspired by the track.

The momentum reflects the continued popularity of nostalgic dance sounds, with early-2010s-inspired club music enjoying a major revival across streaming platforms, festivals and social media.

Corry currently attracts nearly nine million monthly Spotify listeners worldwide, cementing his status as one of the UK’s leading electronic artists.

Scrufizzer Brings Grime Energy to the Dancefloor

For Scrufizzer, the collaboration presented an opportunity to put a fresh spin on one of Britain’s most recognisable advertising slogans.

“Once Joel played me the beat, the ideas came quickly and everything felt natural,” he explained. “The Compare the Market ‘simples’ slogan is one of those catchphrases that has become part of British culture.”

The rapper, who has previously worked with artists including Ed Sheeran, Dizzee Rascal and JME, said he wanted to create a track that audiences could sing back and dance to throughout the summer.

Supporting Teenage Cancer Trust

Beyond the viral success, the project carries a charitable purpose. All royalties generated by the track will support Teenage Cancer Trust, helping fund specialist nurses, youth workers and dedicated NHS hospital units for teenagers and young adults facing cancer.

Corry has supported the charity since 2023, participating in fundraising campaigns, donating music proceeds and hosting activities for young people supported by the organisation.
