Gillette is backing one of football’s most iconic celebrations, promising to reimburse eligible grassroots players for the £10 fines they receive after taking their shirts off to celebrate a goal.
There are few moments in football quite like scoring a goal and instinctively ripping off your shirt in celebration.
Now, Gillette is getting behind those moments with a new initiative designed to help players celebrate without worrying about the financial consequences.
From 10 October 2026, Gillette will reimburse eligible UK grassroots footballers for the £10 fine associated with a yellow card received specifically for removing their shirt during a goal celebration.
The initiative forms part of Gillette and football legend Ian Wright’s ‘Worth Celebrating’ campaign, which is calling for the automatic yellow card for shirt-off goal celebrations to be scrapped.

Gillette Wants Footballers to Celebrate Freely!
Under the current Laws of the Game, players receive an automatic yellow card for removing their shirt during a goal celebration.
At grassroots level, that sporting sanction can also come with a £10 administrative fine, with the cost potentially falling on clubs or individual players.
For smaller grassroots teams where budgets can be tight, even a relatively small disciplinary charge can make a difference.
Gillette’s new cashback initiative will run from 10 October until the end of 2026, allowing eligible players and clubs to submit qualifying fines and claim the £10 penalty back.
The offer is available to UK residents aged 18 and over, with the first 1,000 eligible entrants able to receive reimbursement. Terms and conditions apply.
Ian Wright Backs the Campaign!
Former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright is supporting Gillette’s campaign, arguing that taking a shirt off after scoring is an instinctive part of celebrating a goal.
“Celebrating when you score isn’t a planned thing, you do what feels right in the moment.”
Wright added that he believes players shouldn’t be punished financially for celebrating in the moment, particularly at grassroots level.
The campaign is also encouraging football fans to support a petition calling for the shirt-off yellow card rule to be removed.

Meet the Gillette x Cult Kits Celebration Shirt!
Gillette is taking the campaign a step further with a new collaboration with football culture brand Cult Kits.
Together, the brands have created the Celebration Shirt, a football shirt featuring a quick-release popper construction designed to make it possible to remove the shirt rapidly during a goal celebration.
Essentially, it’s a shirt built for the moment when the ball hits the back of the net and all self-control goes out the window.
The Celebration Shirt will be available to purchase from 7 October 2026 through Cult Kits.

All profits generated from sales of the Celebration Shirt will be donated to Football Beyond Borders, Gillette’s longstanding charity partner.
The organisation works to support young people through football, positive role models and education.
Getting Ready for the Celebration!
Gillette is also connecting the campaign to its grooming range, highlighting its GilletteLabs BODY + INTIMATE collection.
The range is designed specifically for below-the-neck grooming, with Gillette describing it as its safest body shaving range, with fewer nicks and cuts.
The brand says the idea is simple: confidence for those shirt-off celebrations starts with preparation before the match.
How the Shirt-Off Yellow Card Cashback Works!
The cashback initiative launches on 10 October 2026 and will remain available until the end of the year, or until 1,000 qualifying fines have been reimbursed, whichever comes first.
Eligible players must be based in the UK and aged 18 or over, with the fine needing to have been issued specifically because the player removed their shirt during a goal celebration.
Players can find the full eligibility criteria and submit their claims through Gillette UK.
Terms and conditions apply.
Football’s Most Iconic Celebration Gets Backing!
Gillette’s Worth Celebrating campaign is ultimately about one of football’s most spontaneous traditions.
For professional players, taking off a shirt after scoring can mean a yellow card. At grassroots level, that can also mean a £10 financial penalty.
With Gillette now offering to reimburse those fines for eligible players, the brand is putting its support behind footballers who want to celebrate one of the biggest moments in the game.
And with the new Gillette x Cult Kits Celebration Shirt arriving this week, players now have another way to make sure they’re ready for that next unforgettable goal.
