GABBY LOGAN JOINS BLOOMSBURY FOOTBALL FOUNDATION AS AMBASSADOR TO CHAMPION GIRLS’ FOOTBALL

Prominent sports broadcaster Gabby Logan has announced she is joining Bloomsbury Football Foundation as an ambassador, marking a major boost for the London-based charity’s mission to widen access to football for young people.

Founded in 2018, Bloomsbury Football Foundation currently works with more than 6,500 young people every week, delivering high-quality football sessions regardless of background, gender or ability. The charity has grown rapidly in recent years and now plays a key role in improving young people’s physical and mental wellbeing while strengthening communities across London.

Logan was drawn to the charity by the scale of its impact and its ambitious 2023–2028 Strategy, which aims to reach 20,000 young people per week by 2028. A central focus of this plan is girls’ participation, with Bloomsbury Football Foundation targeting 10,000 girls playing football every week across its programmes.

As an ambassador, Logan will support the charity in reaching – and ideally exceeding – this goal. Her role will include attending fundraising events, visiting community programmes, and championing the benefits of football for young people from diverse backgrounds. She will also spend time on the sidelines supporting girls in action, acting as a visible role model for the next generation of players.

The partnership was officially launched with a playful “podcast-style” interview featuring Logan and Alex, a member of the Bloomsbury Football Foundation U12s Academy. In the 15-minute video, available on the charity’s YouTube channel, Logan swaps roles to become the interviewee, discussing her love of sport, her career, and why she has chosen to support the organisation. The conversation ends with a fun lightning round of quick-fire questions led by Alex.

Speaking about her new role, Logan said:

“Witnessing first-hand the rapid growth of women’s football and the Lionesses’ historic success over the years has further strengthened my commitment to championing equal opportunities in sport. I’m delighted to be supporting Bloomsbury Football Foundation’s mission in helping more young girls across London access the transformative power of football, while inspiring the next generation to follow their dreams both on and off the pitch.”

Alex also shared their excitement about the experience, saying:

“I’ve seen Gabby interview so many of my sporting heroes on TV, so it was amazing to switch roles and ask her questions about her career. I love football and am so excited that Gabby is now working with Bloomsbury as an ambassador – I really hope it will get more girls playing football, and that they’ll enjoy playing as much as I do!”

Founder and CEO of Bloomsbury Football Foundation Charlie Hyman added that Logan’s involvement is a significant step forward for the charity’s long-term ambitions.

“Welcoming Gabby as an ambassador is another significant step in supporting our goal to increase female participation across our programmes. Throughout her career, Gabby has been a powerful advocate for providing equal opportunities in sport and the life-changing benefits it brings. I’m excited about the impact she will have as we work together to transform the lives of thousands of young people through the magic of football.”

With women’s football continuing to surge in popularity following the success of the England Lionesses, Logan’s appointment reflects a broader movement towards equality and access in sport. Her partnership with Bloomsbury Football Foundation highlights how community-led initiatives can play a vital role in shaping the future of the game.
