STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5: EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE EPIC FINAL CHAPTER

Netflix’s global phenomenon Stranger Things is gearing up for its most ambitious and emotional chapter yet. Set in the fall of 1987, the fifth and final season promises a high-stakes showdown that will push the residents of Hawkins — and the beloved core group of characters — to their limits.

Following the catastrophic opening of the Rifts, Hawkins is left scarred and unstable. The mission is clear: find and kill Vecna. But the villain has vanished without a trace, his plans unknown and his threat more ominous than ever. As if that weren’t enough, the US government has placed Hawkins under strict military quarantine while intensifying its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.

With the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance looming, a familiar sense of dread settles over the town. The final battle is approaching, and this time the darkness facing the group is more powerful — and more deadly — than anything they’ve encountered before. To end the nightmare once and for all, the full party must reunite and stand together one last time.

Behind the Scenes

The creative team has promised a finale that honours the show’s roots while delivering an unforgettable conclusion.

Why Stranger Things Still Matters

Since debuting in 2016, Stranger Things has become one of the most successful series in Netflix history. The show’s blend of ’80s nostalgia, supernatural horror and heartfelt coming-of-age storytelling has captivated audiences worldwide. Season four alone amassed over 140.7 million views globally.

The series also made waves beyond television, famously propelling Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill back into the Billboard Hot 100 nearly four decades after its original release — a moment that underscored the show’s cultural impact (read more about Kate Bush on Billboard).

To date, Stranger Things has earned over 70 awards worldwide, including multiple Emmys and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, alongside more than 230 nominations.

Release Dates and the Expanding Stranger Things Universe

The highly anticipated fifth and final season will roll out in three volumes, all releasing at 1am GMT:

  • 27 November – Four episodes

  • Boxing Day – Three episodes

  • New Year’s Day – The series finale

Beyond the screen, the Stranger Things universe continues to expand. Fans can explore the story through the Olivier and Tony Award-winning stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, a growing collection of tie-in books, touring experiences like Stranger Things: The Experience, and upcoming projects including the animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. Every year, fans also celebrate 6 November — the day Will Byers went missing — as Stranger Things Day.

Where to Follow Stranger Things

Stranger Things streams exclusively on Netflix, which currently serves over 300 million paid members across more than 190 countries.

As Hawkins braces for its final reckoning, one thing is clear: this is the end of an era — and the beginning of one last unforgettable adventure.
