G2 ESPORTS LAUNCHES AI FAN AGENT “SAMI” POWERED BY THETA LABS TO TRANSFORM ESPORTS ENGAGEMENT

Global esports powerhouse G2 Esports has teamed up with blockchain AI infrastructure company Theta Labs to launch a new AI-powered fan experience tool designed to transform how esports communities interact with their favourite teams.

The new AI agent, named Sami — inspired by G2’s mascot — is trained using Theta’s distributed computing infrastructure and is now available across the G2 website and Discord community channels from February 17th. The launch covers multiple competitive esports titles including:

  • League of Legends

  • Counter-Strike 2

  • VALORANT

  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

  • Call of Duty

AI-Powered Fan Engagement at Scale

The Sami AI agent is designed to give G2 fans instant access to team information using natural language queries. Fans can ask about match schedules, player rosters, tournament standings, performance stats, and even G2’s competitive history and community memes.

By training the AI on G2’s competitive lore and community culture, G2 aims to blend entertainment with real-time esports intelligence — delivering both practical updates and personality-driven responses.

Instead of waiting for manual social media responses, fans can now interact with Sami for 24/7 updates about everything related to G2’s competitive journey.

Advanced Cloud & Edge AI Technology

The AI agent is powered by Theta EdgeCloud, a hybrid cloud-edge computing platform that combines more than 30,000 distributed edge nodes with major cloud providers including Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.

Theta’s network delivers up to 80 PetaFLOPS of GPU compute power, allowing training and inference tasks to be processed efficiently across:

  • High-performance cloud GPUs such as NVIDIA A100 and H100

  • Desktop-grade GPUs including NVIDIA 3090 and 4090 hardware

  • Distributed edge computing nodes for cost-optimized performance

According to Theta, this architecture allows AI workloads to run at one-fifth to one-third of the cost of traditional cloud computing platforms while maintaining high performance and low latency.

Proven AI Ecosystem in Esports

Theta Labs has already built AI-powered fan engagement systems for multiple major esports organisations, including:

  • Cloud9

  • FlyQuest

  • Evil Geniuses

  • NRG Esports

  • Gen.G Esports

  • Dignitas

  • 100 Thieves

  • Team Heretics

These partnerships help power always-on AI fan experiences across websites, social media, and community platforms such as Discord.

Executive Statements

“G2 doesn’t do things halfway, so it made sense to build them an AI agent that can keep up with their fans’ energy,” said Mitch Liu, CEO of Theta Labs.“What we’re seeing across esports is that fans want immediate access to information 24/7. Our AI agents make that possible while maintaining each team’s unique personality.”

“With Sami, we’re not just launching another AI chatbot — we’re launching AI the G2 way,” said Sabrina Ratih, COO of G2 Esports.“By combining powerful AI technology with G2’s tone of voice, we’re creating something helpful, entertaining, and perfectly aligned with our community culture.”

The Future of Esports AI Fan Experiences

The launch of Sami reflects a growing trend in esports where AI is being used to strengthen community engagement, real-time analytics, and personalized content delivery. As competitive gaming continues to grow globally, AI-driven fan tools are expected to become a core part of team marketing and engagement strategies.

Fans can try Sami by visiting the official G2 Esports website or joining their Discord community for real-time interaction and updates.
