SILENT HILL: TOWNFALL TRAILER DROPS, BRINGING NEW PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR EXPERIENCE TO FANS

Fans of psychological horror have been given a chilling new look at Silent Hill: Townfall, after Konami Digital Entertainment revealed the full trailer during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s latest State of Play presentation.

Developed by No Code Studios (working under the name Screen Burn) and co-published with Annapurna Interactive, Silent Hill: Townfall is a self-contained psychological horror adventure that expands the iconic franchise while preserving its core themes of mystery, tragedy, and emotional storytelling.

Players can wishlist the game now ahead of its official release on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store. More gaming news and reviews can be found on our Gaming section.

A New Chapter in the Silent Hill Universe

First teased in 2022, Silent Hill: Townfall has been one of the most anticipated entries in the long-running horror franchise. The newly released footage gives players their first detailed glimpse of the game’s unsettling atmosphere and narrative-driven gameplay.

Set against the haunting, isolated backdrop of Scotland, the game leans heavily into environmental storytelling. The fog-covered landscapes evoke classic Silent Hill horror while introducing new psychological mechanics designed to heighten player tension.

Who Is Simon Ordell?

Players step into the role of Simon Ordell, a man summoned back to the mysterious island of St. Amelia under unclear circumstances. Tasked with “putting things right,” Simon arrives with almost no supplies — only his clothes, an IV bag, and a medical wristband displaying his name.

With no clear guidance, Simon must rely on strange audio signals transmitted through a found CRTV device that appears to carry voices connected to the town’s dark past. As players progress, fragments of memory and narrative clues gradually reveal Simon’s connection to the island and its inhabitants.

First-Person Horror Gameplay and Survival Mechanics

Unlike earlier entries in the franchise, Townfall is experienced entirely in first-person perspective, creating a more immersive horror experience.

Players will need to:

  • Explore abandoned environments shrouded in fog

  • Evade hostile entities rather than rely heavily on combat

  • Solve narrative-driven puzzles to uncover hidden truths

Combat is described as frantic and tense, reinforcing survival mechanics over action-based gameplay. The use of limited resources, including the CRTV device used to tune into unstable signals, adds another layer of psychological unease.

This design philosophy continues the evolution of psychological horror seen throughout the franchise’s history while bringing modern gameplay expectations to the series.

Why This Matters for Horror Fans

The Silent Hill franchise has remained one of gaming’s most influential horror series due to its focus on psychological storytelling and emotional depth. With Townfall, developers aim to modernize those themes for contemporary audiences while preserving the narrative ambiguity fans love.

Horror gaming continues to grow in popularity, with players increasingly seeking story-rich experiences rather than traditional jump-scare mechanics.
