FC Barcelona’s 21/22 away kit brings forward a reimagined colour palette which fuses the iconic blue & red of the club to give a unique identity when they are on their travels.
A vibrant purple gives a beautiful, modernised and pastel look for an away kit like never before – sticking true to the dynamic, creative and outspoken youth who are the pulse of the city.
This colour and execution of trims keeps in tune with blaugrana tradition, the side stripes call out the clubs’ key colours and within the terms ‘tots units fem força’and ‘totes unides fem força’ translated to ‘together stronger’ both in female and male verbal forms are embossed exemplifying the unity within the city. This new design sends a message in favour of women’s empowerment as it opts for purple – a colour born of the fusion of blue and red and with which the struggle for gender equality is popularly represented.
The new kit is also presented under the ‘MORE THAN’ campaign highlighting Barça as a unique sports entity around the world and fully committed to women’s football and the role of women in sport.
“I think our younger fans are going to love it, it’s so fresh and different from anything I’ve ever seen,” says Aitana Bonmati. “In every look, you find more intricate details and it’s the perfect uniform for representing this amazing club with its rich history.”
The crest is monochromatic, meaning with every look – you’ll feel and see a different colour depending on the angle it’s looked at. There’s also a multicolour rainbow thread hidden within the shirt, mirroring the badge’s aesthetic. It’s complete with the famous Senyera colours on the neckline complementing the modern all purple uniform.
The new FC Barcelona Away kit that players will wear on the pitch as well as the replica jerseys for the fans are constructed with 100% recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. This creates the kits that helps deliver peak performance with a lower impact on the environment.
No other sport captures global attention like the beautiful game and we see this as an opportunity to scale more sustainable solutions in order to help protect the future of sport. As part of Nike’s wider Move to Zero initiative – a journey towards zero carbon and zero waste – we are focused in scaling the usage of lower-carbon material alternatives. Recycled polyester reduces carbon emissions by up to 30% compared to virgin polyester and that’s why since 2010 Nike has been using rPoly to produce football kits.
The 21/22 FC Barcelona Away kit will be available to Nike Members from July 15 from nike.com and on full retail from July 20.
