Brighton’s iconic naturist beach is set for a major summer glow-up, with a new free-to-use beach essentials initiative launching just in time for the UK heatwave. As London temperatures are expected to rival Mediterranean hotspots like Santorini and Ibiza, the refreshed offering aims to make one of the UK’s most famous coastal spots more welcoming than ever.
The initiative comes as digital healthcare provider Voy partners with the historic beach to confront rising body image concerns across the UK.
A Summer Revamp for Brighton’s Naturist Beach
Brighton’s famous naturist beach — located at the eastern end of the city’s seafront — has been refreshed for summer with a simple but impactful idea: remove barriers to enjoying the beach.
From Saturday 23 May to Tuesday 14 July, visitors will be able to access free beach essentials including:
- Sun loungers
- Beach chairs
- Towels
- Yoga mats
- Tote bags
Items can be collected via Bison Bar, making the experience more accessible for both first-time visitors and regular beachgoers.
Tackling Body Image Stigma in the UK
The revamp is part of a wider wellbeing campaign led by digital healthcare provider Voy, which is focusing on the growing issue of body confidence in the UK.
New research reveals that around 8.2 million Brits plan to avoid beaches and swimming pools this summer due to body insecurities and stigma — a statistic the campaign aims to challenge directly.
By creating a more relaxed and supportive environment, the initiative encourages people to reconnect with outdoor spaces without fear of judgement.
Who Can Visit the Naturist Beach?
The naturist beach is open to all beachgoers, not just experienced naturists. The goal of the project is inclusivity, helping newcomers feel more comfortable exploring naturism in a safe, respectful environment.
The partnership also aims to normalise body diversity and promote wellbeing through outdoor activity and community spaces.

As heatwaves become more frequent and UK staycations continue to rise in popularity, Brighton’s naturist beach revamp reflects a wider cultural shift towards body positivity and accessible wellbeing experiences.
With free amenities and a more welcoming setup, the initiative hopes to encourage more people to enjoy one of the UK’s most unique coastal spaces this summer.
